tion of the invention, such as will enable;
othersskilled in the art to whichit' appertains to 'make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a partof this specification." i
Attempts have already been made to run winding-machines for cops or bobbins at ahigher speed, for the purpose of'i'educing the time necessary for filling a bobbin; the
results, however, have not proved satisfactory, as. the centrifugal-force is found to act disadvantageously upon the rotor parts of the winding-mechanism, such, or instance, as the thread-guide.
In order to enable more rapid winding, without the velocity of the revolving parts being increased, both the spindle and the thread guides are rotated. At the same time theretakes place ato and fro axial movement of the spindleand the thread guides in relation to each other. Both the spindle and the thread guides are positively geared together and at the same time pos tively displaced axially with relation. to eachother by one and the same system of driving mechanism.
Since the time during which the thread travels from the lower part of the conical bobbin-end to the upper part thereof, is 40 much shorter than hitherto, it is requisite that the compensation of the thread be more accurate and quick-than in prior machines, and for this urpose I provide a special comfensatingevice for each spindle.
l y invention is illustrated in the accomp'anying drawings, which show one form of construction, in which several threads are wound with counter-rotation.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a part of 60 the machine. Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view showin a bobbin-spindle and contiguous parts, rawn to a larger scale. Fig. 4 shows iagrammatically the conical bobbin-end as I .66 hitherto wound. Fig. 5 is a like view showing thefbohbin-end as wound according to this invention; Fig. 6 is a section on'the line A B of Fig. 2, drawn to a larger." scale. Fig. 7 is a section on the line C-D:- ofFig.2.' co 1 designates the main-shaft,.ifrom' which the shaft .2 is driven. On'the latter there is. mounted for each cop or bobbin-spindle a friction-disk 3, en aging with a second .fllCtlODrHlSk 4. .To t e latter there is rigidly comiected. a toothed sleeve --'5, with which there meshesa-gear'6-"which'is rig-.
idly connected with a secon ear. 7, thatmeshes with a further gear 8. n the shaft 9 of the gear 8 there; is fined a cain lt), the
two halves of which, as presented-by aver; tical axial section," are,- ynimetrical, so'thati. the ascending ca m-track is symmetrical to the descending one. Thiscam 10 presents a groove 11, into which there rejects ain 12, Zwhich is'connected' with the axially sliding bobbin-s indle -13, that passes. V loosely through t e"tooth'ed' sleeve o l-File cam 10 is furnished on'thejtip e with j teeth 14, which mesh with a toothed 'sleevefi 15, rigidly secured to the spindle i13.'-=The" sleeve 5 is mounted with capabilityof turn- 4 ing on a sleeve 17 fixed to anarm .16, On the friction-disk 4 two rods 18 are secured, which support the thread-guide 19 in well- 35 known manner. 1
When the disk 3 rotates, the disk at, and thus the threadguide 19, will be revolved; at the same time, however, throu h the transmissionmechanism 5, 6, 7, 8, t e cam 10, and by means of. the teeth 14 the sleeve 15 and spindle 13, will be rotated. Simultaneously, by means of the cam groove 11 and pin 12, the spindle 13 will be reciprocated up and down. The rotary motion'of l the spindle, it's axial motion, and the revolvin motion of the thread-guide are thus a l in positive connection.
With the cam 10 there is rigidly connected a cam-disk 20. Against the latter there bears a roller 21, mounted on a. lever 22, which is secured to a bent rod 23, that has its bearing in a block 24 (Fig. 1). The other end of the rod 23 (Figs. 2 and 7) bears against a roller 25 of a. lever 26', which turns in a bearing 27 and carries the thread guide 29 of the compensating-device thusconstituted. A spring 28 has the tendency *o l eep the roller 25 always pressed against the level 23, and hus cause the roller 21 to 19' rotative movement of the of this part, a portion of the thread has been pensating-device,
I bear pgain'st the camk 20. seen from ig. 1,', each spind e is provided-with a compensating-device such as described.
' In' rior cop-winding-frames/o'nly a small thread guides in-relation to each other could take place, since there was no -positive cbni-F wing ba Pa apart of the spin- Motion of the means Thus on axial motion 0 die, or of the thread- 'de, during each'lift wound on, as indicated by theline Fig.4, so that during this ift, two turns of thread h'ave'beenfwoundon According to this invention, a more r a winding is e ffected in consequence of t e-spo'sitive connection of the impelling means for both the spindle andthe thread-guides, so that a por-T tion of the thread will be, wound onto the cone, as shown by axial lift of this art, thatis 'to say,-in the same time as with the prior bobbin.-' This "piece of thread 'w.z lies,jin the case illustrated, in five turns on the cone. According to my invention, be wound on in the same time than hitherto;
that is to say, the bobbin can befilled in a.
shorter time. v It-is obvious that the motion of a thread ide of definite length, for the purpose of ling the cone, takes place within a shorter -time than hitherto. There is therefore less time for th'e compensation by the compensating-device' than has previously been the case, where a single compensating-contrivance' has been'einployed forallthe spindles of a machine. The compensating-device must, therefore, bemore sensitive and must operate more quickly; and thi'sthe reason why, according to the present invention, eachspindle is furnished with-its-own comas shown in Fig; 1." Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of the said invention andin what manner the same is to beperformed, I declare that what I claim is: v

In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention, I have signed my name in presence 'of two subscribing witnesses.
