plate constituting an attachment adapted to be secured to the end of the journal box to receive the thrust and wear and take up undue play, as for example between the j ournal box and a wheel hub, although the attachment is capable of employment in connection-with similar arrangements or devices.

A convenient embodiment of the invention comprises a plate of the character designated provided with ribs or projections adapted to have slidable connection with complementary grooves or recesses on the ournal box for connecting the plate to the journal box, said connection preferably beingof a character to retain the plate in the desired position in reference to the box and wheel hub,- although the invention also: contemplates still other means for securing the plate. against displacement-or accidental removal from the box.

The above referred to embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings forming part hereof and the details will be apparent from an inspection of Y said drawings in connection with the specific description hereinafter contained.
