Patented July-i 5 Application filed April 20, 1912. Serial No. thfmfiih and SAMUEL C. Swnnrzrnenn, citizens of coffee or tea can maybe carried when the pail is in either open or collapsed form.
Another object of this invention is the provision of a dinner pail which when folded may be easily carried in a coat pocket.
For a full understanding of the invention-- reference may be had to the following de script-ion and to the accompanying draw ings, in which:

Throughout the following description and on the drawings similar part-sare referred to by like characters of reference.
Referring more particularly to thedrawings' the numeral 1 indicates the bottom of the pail which is preferably rectangular in form and is provided with side flanges 2 and end flanges 3.
Pivotally secured to the side and end flanges are side walls 4 and end walls 5 respectively which are adapted to fold inwardly when the pail is collapsed. The side and end walls of the pail are connected rigidly at the corners thereof by means of thereof on which a cap 10, which may be used as a drinking cup if desired, is secured by screw threads or other suitahle means.
The cap 7.0 of the can 8 is flush with the upper edges of the walls of the paii and the can is held securely in position by the cover 11 of the pail which :rests upon the cap when the said cover is in position.
When it is desired to collapse the will only be necessary to remove the can, whereupon the hooks 6 may be discngagml from the members '7 and the walls permitted to fall outwardlyso that the can may be placed in the bottom section of the pail. The walls may then folded inwardly on the can and the co er ll" may be placed in position to completely inclose the walls and can within the bottom section of the pail.
The cover is securely held in position on the pail when it is either open or folded by means of hooks 192 which are adapted to engage staples or eyes secured to the side walls and bottom flan es. of the pail. Slots 14 are formed in the cover adjacent the hooks 12 to slidahly engage the staples or eyes 13.
It will he understood from the drawings thatthe hook will connect the walls of the pail and at t e nne time prevent the coll'ee can from slip n down into the pail. as shown in lll i at 6 the hooks may he hinged to facilitate their engagement with the staples or eyes '2".
Having thus fully described our invention what we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A collapsible pail comprising a bottom section having end and side flanges, end and side walls pivotally secured to the said end and side flanges of the bottom section a cover, angular hooks connecting the end and side walls at the corners thereof, a can provided with a cap carried by the said paii and adapted to rest upon the angular hooks, the said cap being flush with the top of the pail, and the cover adapted to rest upon the said cap of the can whereby the can rigidly supported in the pail. 1
