Be it known that I, @SCI J. BAINUM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Paxton, county of' Ford, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Individual-Drinking-Cup Holders, of which the following is a speci- ,iicatioIL This invention relates toindividual drinking cup holders.

it is preferably employed so that if the cup or drinking vessel .is wet,`it will not come against the side lof the desk, but will abut the back 4. The base 3 and back 4 are connected. together in any preferred manner. The base 3, is provided wit-h one or more screw holes 5 through which any suitable be passed and engaged with the seat back 2.

Secured bylany suitable fastening 6 pass-` ing` therethrough into the base 3, is a double spring arm, preferably made from a single piece of fiat springy metal, of .general circu' lar shape, having the arms 7 and 8 provided with out-turned rounded ends 9 to facilitate the sidewise introduction of the drinking cup between them. Secured to the base Aat 10 is a retaining spring arm or a support 11 provided with a rounded outwardl Y turnedentl 12 which is so positioned that it will come approximately at the center of the end of the drinking cup.

The drinking cup `which is specially adapted for use in'connection with my invention is of the type shown in closed condition in Fig. 3 and in open position in Fig. 6, this cupl 13 being of metal and composed of collapsible or telescopic sect-ions.

`When the cup 13 is collapsed,.it can be slid in between the end 9 of the arms 7 and 8 in a sidewise direction as indicated by the arrow in Fig. 1, and, siniilarly, it canbe removed by pulling it from between the arms 7 and 8. Gn account of its general cylindrical construction, the arms 7 and 8 arevadapted to grasp the cup 13 when it is in the holder, as shown in Fig 1, firmly retaining it, but without interfering with its ready removal at any time. The 'retaining arm 11 bears'against the central part` of the cup 13 when the latter is in the holder, and prevents the cup from coming out from between the arms 7 and of this arm permits lthe cup to be readily slid into or removed from the holder.

With my invention, each pupil has his or her own drinking cup suitably lield in an inconspicuous yet convenient position at the side of the deskand the common drinking from va general cup or glass is obviated.

In'the modification shown in Figs.4 and 5. the base 3@ and back et are made from a single piece of sheet metal, preferably' a steel stamping and t-he base has an integral,
