This invention relates to new and useful mprovements in magazine rifles and the obect in view is to produce a simple and efli- :ient device of this nature having various letails of construction and combinations Ll'lCi arrangements of parts which will be lereinafter fully described and then speaifically defined in the appended claim.

I illustrate my invention in the accom- )anying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view :hrough a portion of a rifle. Fig. 2 is a .op plan view. Fig. 3 is a sectional view. tridges into proper position to be moved forward into the barrel of the gun. All these features are of the usual construction common to the magazine rifle and for which no novelty is claimed.

In the side of the magazine is mounted an angle plate J having pintles J and a spring J 2 is fastened at one end to the marginal opening, as shown clearly in Fig. 5, and its other end to one end of the angle plate and serves to normally hold the plate so that the free end thereof will be disposed partially across the magazine so as to allow the shells to pass out of the magazine and in position to be fed forward by the breech block into the barrel.

In operation, the cartridges are moved upward by the spring acting against the follower, the angle plate allowing the shells to be singly fed into positions to be advanced by the breech block. When a shell has been fed forward, the angle plate will be thrown back with the spring and hold the remaining cartridges within the magazine in place.

What I claim to be new is A magazine rifle having chamber, an angle plate having intles at the opposite edges thereof journaied in the marginal edge of an opening in the wall of the magazine, a spring connected to one end of the plate and its other end fastened to the marginal edge of said opening, said plate adapted to bear against the shells as a ma azine they are pushed by the follower in the magazine in positions to be delivered to the barrel.
