rIIEMEIRCVEMENT IN COOKING-STOVES.

"The Schedule referred to in these `Letters 'Patent and making of the same.

To all'whom it 'may concern:

Bel it-,kno\vn that I, Suns HOFFMANLAZRUE, of Allentown, in the county of Lehigh and'n the State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new. and. useful `Improv'ern'e'htsin'Stoves;` and do hereby declarethat thefoliowing isa-full, clear,,and .exact description thereof, reference' being Ahad to the accompanying drawings 1 and'to the 'letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specitication.

The nature of my invention consists- -First, in conduotingheat from the oren of a bakingstove when not in use, to an upper room; and

In the hre-box of the stove is placed al dre-grate, A

E, of cylindrical shape, the heads or ends being solid,

and connected by means oi' gratebars. The-heads or ends of the grate are, on their outside, provided with pivotsor journals b b, and suspended in any suitableV manner, so as to revolve freely. The. sides of the 1 grate are provided with longitudirad ianges e e, which strike and bear against fianges or edges 'i i, in the sides of the fire-box, so' to hold the grate in positio i1,

with either side up.

A slide -d is `also 4formed in the top of the grate through which fuel is introduced, and I intend to place a similar slide in the bottomof the grate, so that the recan be replenished, whether tlretop or bottom is P- 'The object "if Amy revolving grate is to consume the gas-by turning the grate upside down, when' the 'iire has been well Started.- The 'firev will gradually burn down through-the coal beneath it, and consume the gas passinglup through it.
