v My invention relates to a cloth package and more particularly to one in which tlie .bolt of goods while being thoroughly protected, at the same time can be readily inspected and in which access may be had to the body of the bolt of goods for severing a portion therefrom.

The bolt of goods is arranged in two parts, namely a main part 5 and a display part 6.- In. folding the bolt of goods I do not fold the goods longitudinally so as to bring the salvage edges togetherbut .on the contrary allow `the creases to be only across the goods so that each layer or fold of t-he goods displays the entire width of the goods thus. forming what is/usually known as a long fold. In order to protect both the main or body portion and the display portion 6 of the goods I provide a two-part envelop which is preferably formed from a blank like that shown in Fig. l. In this envelop the part which protects the display 'portion 6 of the goods consists of two sections of the envelop designated 7 and S and end-tlaps .9. VThe other portion of the-envelop which protects the body 5 of the goods is `formed integral with the above described part. and consists of the sections l() and ll. the latter havingr an extended edge 12 which adapted to A`be folded under f iltz.- body of the goods 5 as best shown in ,Fig-s. 'l and 2. The section l() is provided with end-flaps 13 adapted to protect the ends of the body 5. In order to secure the end-'flaps 13 to the section 11 I preferablyprovide the se'ction 11 with staples 1J: and

the flaps 13 with openings 15 adapted to receive the 'prongs of saidl staples. lVhen, however, the package 1s to be used only in thc retail trade this fastening device may be omitted.

In using my package the portion of the envelop consisting of the sections 7 and S and containing the display portion of the boltJ of goods is folded over the main por-- tion, as shown in Fig. 3. The goods is thus entirely protected from soiling or other injury. lVhen it is desired to display' the goods the display portion is folded down in to the same plane with the main portion, as shown 'in Figs. 1 and 2. The goods may thus be readily inspected lwhile at the same time the main or body portion is still thoroughly protected. IVhen it is desired to remove a portion ofthe goods the end-flaps 18 are folded down, as shown at the lower portion of Fig. 2, the edge 12 is pulled out from in .under the body portion of the goods and the section 1l is folded back, as shown in Fig. 4t. Access is thus readily had to the body portion of the goods for removing any desired length therefrom in the usual way, and the only part of the bolt Vexposed to injury by soiling is the relatively small display p91'- tion 6.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire toV secure by Letters Patent of the United States. is:

1. In a cloth package, the combination with a bolt of cloth arranged in long fold and comprising a body portion and a rela- .tively smaller display portion, whereby said body portion presentsv an inner edge adjacent to said display portion, of a two-part envelop, one part of said envelop being adapted to' receive and completely envelop the body portion including said in ner edge, and the other part being adapted to receive the display portion.
