i "IMPROVEMENT 1N vEGnTABLE-CUTTERS.

`The Schedule` referred to ki these-Letters Patent and making part `of the same` Be it known that I, NioHoLAsKirPnii, of Seymour, in the county of Jackson and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and.. useful Improvements in Vegetable-Cutters; iand I do hereby declare that` thefollowing is`a`full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and io the letters of reference marked theref on, which forinapart of this specification.

Thefnature'of my invcntionconsists in the construction and general arrangement of a. vveretable-cutter, as` will be hereinafter fully set forth.

`which my invention appertaius to make and use the same, I will now proceed to` describe itsconstiuction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, in

A A represent two standards,`resting upon feet B 13said standards forming the sides, or rather the ends, of tliefraine.v 1

At theii` nppei` ends the standards are connected by a cross-bar`,G, and on their front isa board, D, covering about the lower half.

In the rear portion of the standards B B are two bars, E E, running parallel with the front D, and their upper edges at the same height as said front.

In snit-able.joiiiiiai-boxes, yin the center of the rear `or outell bar E and in the front D, is placed a shaft,

G, th inner one of the `bars E being Vcut ont or notched/for the `shaft to pass through.

On the shaft G, a suitable distance in rear of t-lie `front D, is mounted a disk or wheel, H, provided on its front face with a series of beveled recesses, radiating from the center at equal distances apart.

In these recesses are slots or openings, ruiming from near the center to near the periphery of the wheel, and in said recesses are secured knives oi cut-ters I I, the sharp edges of lwhich are directly over the slots .or openings.

Through the portions left of the disk or wheel, near the centerV and near the periphery, at the ends of the slots mentioned, are, from the rear, passed set-screws a a, which bear against the under sides of the knivesl I I, near their sharp edges.

By means of these set-screws the knives canbe set `so that their sharp edges will project more or less rIhe shaft G, with the wheel H, obtains its necesv sary rotary motion through a shaft, J, placed in suitable jouriial-hoxesiu the bars E E, and turned by a. crank, K. i

On this shaft, between the bars E E, is mounted a cog-wheel, L, which gears with a` pinion, M, on the shaft G. l

On the front side, at the upper edge of .the board D, 4is secured a"feedtable or apron, N, which can read-` ily'be pnt on and taken oii` by the means shownV iii fic.' 1. v
