WTNESSES: l/V VE N TOI? yp W, ffHg/A/Al/va BURC/MHH e A2o and the crossv channels 5 of blocks?) as well as into the .angular recesses between adjacent edges of the blocks 3 and sections 1.
It' will be observed thatthe sections l in each row do not abut, and likewise that the flanged extensions 5 of two rows of blocks 3 do not abut. open spaces 8, which permit of the intro-v duction of the tie-rods ,6 and 7 and which in the completed floor are finally also lilled with concrete. Thus the concrete in these spaces 8 locks the channel sections 1, 1, in their predetermined positions. 'After this concrete has set or hardened the temporary centering is removed leavingthe complete fire roof oor or ceilingin position. By maklng the sections l and the hollow blocks 3 separate these parts are easily and cheaply manufactured and when assembled as described, form a complete hollow lblock which is reproof, light in construction and also extremely strong and capable of sustaining great weight.
' It will be understood that changes in the specific constructions ,shown and described may be made within the scope of the claimsv without departing from the spirit of my invention.I
This application is a division of my application for United States Letters Patent for 'block for building. construction which application has been filed by me on November 2, 1909, Serial I claim: 1. In a floor. construction, the combination of open ended blocks arranged in alinement in intersecting rows, and spaced from each other, channel blocks separate from said open ended blocks, and substantially U-shaped in cross section, located between and closing the open'ends of said open ended blocks, and forming substantially continuous channels and av coalescent material in said channels.
No.y 525,878.
2. In a floor construction, the combination of open ended blocks arranged in ahnementv in 'intersecting rows, and spaced from each other, channel blocks separatefrom said open ended blocks and substantially U- shaped in I'cross section, located between and.
closing'the open ends of said open ended blocks and 'forming substantially continuous channels, said channel blocks terminating.
below the upper surfaces of said open ended blocks, and a coalescent material in said channels and extending over the tops of the channel blocks.
3. In a floor construction, the combination of open ended blocks arranged in alinement in intersecting rows and spaced from each other, channel blocks Aseparate from said open ended blocks and substantially U- shaped in cross sect-ion,'located`between and closing the open ends of said open ended Between these are formedv blocks and forming substantially. Continuous channels..said channel blocksbeing shorter than said open ended blocks and a coalescent material in said channels and extendin over the ends of the channel blocks.
4. In a floor construction, the combination of open ended blocks'arranged in alinement vin intersecting rows and spaced from each other, channel blocks, separate from said openended blocks, and substantially U- shaped in cross section, located between and closing the .open ends of said open ended blocks and forming substantially continuous channels, said channel blocks terminating below the upper surfaces of and being shorter than'saidopen ended blocks and a coalescent material in said channels and eX- tending over the tops and ends of the chan` f nel blocks. s
5. Ina floor construction, the combination of openended blocks arranged'in intersecting rows and spaced from each other, channeled closure blocks located between and closing the openv ends.- of said open -ended blocks, said closure blocks vbeing arranged in longitudinal' alinement with each other in rows to form substantially continuous channels, and having the 'opposed ends ofthe closure blocks 'in each row spaced from each other, and a coalescent material extending into said channels andvinto the spaces between said opposed ends of said closure blocks.
6. In a floor construction, the combination of open ended blocks arranged in intersect@ 'I ing rows, means for spacing said blocks apart in one direction, channeled closureV blocks for closing the open ends of said open ended blocks and for spacing them apart in and in the channels of the-closure blocks, said coalescent material also extending ber tweenthe. ends of the spacing means, and
.the ends of the closure blocks for preventing displacement thereof.
7. In a reproof floor construction, the combination with hollow panel tile having open ends and spaced apart longitudinally and transversely andA arranged in longitud inal and transverse rows, channel tile exanother direction, and a coalescent material. in the spaces between said open ended blocks tending transversely between and closing the hollows of said panel tile, a network of lon- In testimony whereof I have hereunto .set gtudnal and transverse concrete ribs filling my hand in the presence of two subscrlbmg 10 said channel tile and the spaces between the Witnesses. l y
