IMPROvEMEN-T IN WATER-WHEELS. l

Ncw Haven, in the couutyof -New Haven and State of Connecticut, have Uinvented'a new Improvement in4 Water-Wheels; and l do hereby declare the following, when taken `in connection with the accompanying drawings and .the letters ofref'erence marked thereon, to be a full, clear7 and exact description of the saine,v and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent iii- Figure l, a top View;`

This invention relates `to an improvement in that class of water-wheels commonly used as tub-wheels, or such as have a vertical axis, the object of the invention being to construct a cheap and durable wheel;

' Then onto the surface of this disk I tix bluckets C, equidistau't from each other, and radiating from the center,.the shape of the bucket being parabolic, a front view of which is shown in fig. 3, and a section .of the same on line a: a: in tig. 4.

The water is directed into the bucket about as de-` noted bythe arrow in fig. 1. l

The buckets I prefer to vform from sheet metal, struck up and riveted to the disk, yet the whole may bee-ast in one piece.

The wheel is set in the pit vin like manner as 'the ordinary tub-wheel, and this wheel, being very-cheap, makes a desirable wheel for grist-mills and other like purposes where small power is required.

I'claim as my inventionlhe disk B, xed upon the shaft A, and provided i with radial buckets C, of the form and arrangementsubstantially as described.
