Be it known tha't I, ROBERT H. MOORE, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Car-Unloading De vices; and I do hereby declare the fo'llowing tobe a fully, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The object of this invention isv to provide simple and highly eflicient means for unloading cars, trams or trucks, and 1s especially designed for use 1n connection with tie or 4 is a view in perspective with parts omitted.

Inasmuch as my present invention is primarily designed for timber treating plants it will be described accordingly, but it is to be understood thatthe-use of the invention is not restricted, since it may be employed `to advantage generallyin unloading cars or trams.

Any suitable means may be employed raising the cradle; that shown comprises hoist-ing cables 14 passed over suitable pulleys supported by' a super-structure 15. After the load is discharged the cradle is lowered by gravity. y. l I

-I claim as my invention n 1. A device for unloading a car on a track comprisin a cradle movable on a fixed plane transverse y of a fixed track in proximity to and beyond the ends of a car thereon for raising the loadV bodily from the car, and a platform upon which the load is discharged. 2. A device for unloading a car on a track comprisin a cradle movable on a fixed plane transverse y of a fixed track in proximity to and beyond the ends of a car thereon and designed to engage and raise the load from the car without disturbing the latter and discharge-the load at one side of the track.

3. A device for unloading a car on a track comprising a cradle pivotally mounted at arms 8 each of which is pivoted at l9- at points adjacent the upper ends 4of the in-- clined way.
