Be it known lthat I, JESSE REYNOLDS, of the city of Philadelphia, in. the State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement on Drums or Radiators,and I do hereby declare that the following isa full, clear, 'and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters and marks thereon, which said drawing forms part of this specitication, and represents a drum or radiator constructed under my invention; f

`the bottom-plate of the box being removed, and the view had by looking toward the lower endsof the pipes of the drum.

In both of these flgures where vlike parts are shown, i -like marks andletters are used to indicate vthe parts.

` This invention is ofthe character of an'additional improvement to that on which LettersPatent were granted to Jesse Reynolds and Wm. Steie, on the 11th day of August, V1868, and, like that invention, relates to that class of. drums or radiators vwhich'is used in .fthe air-chambers ot' house-warming heaters or furnaces, more specially intended toincrease the snrface exposed to the products of combustion and the I radiating surface for heat-ing the'air. f

Like the patented invention here referredto, this improvement, also, is intended to besa permanent fixture inthe air-chamber, the several parts thereof be- "ing made of heavy iron orplate metal-,well riveted or secured together, seas to have perfect joints, through which no commingling can occur of the air to be heated, on the one side, and the products of' cornbustion on the other side,and the lower pipes thereof to be extended through the bricklwork or walls oi' the heater or furnace, to admit of the cleaning of the interiorof the drum or radiator from theV outside The head or box a, of this radiator,.has an inletpipe, 1r, and an outlet-pipe, c, for the eut-rance and exit of the` products of combustion, and plates d, e,

Vit will readily be seen that, under this arrangement of pipes and box with directing-plates, the products of combustion may fbe so directed as to utilize al very great proportion of thev heat produced. i For the purpose of having access to the head or box and the horizontal pipes, .other pipes may be passed therefrom through the walls or,brick-work, so that lthe box and pipes may easily be cleaned.

Now what I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, as an improvement in the class of'radiators or drums herein referred to, isV

The arrangement of vertical and horizontal pipes with the box-or head, and directingplates, as herein recited.
