IMPROVED MOP-WRINGER.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 102,759, dated May 10, 1870.

To all whom it'may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES BRADWAY, of Maquoketa, county of Jackson, and State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Mop-Vringers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and

exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specilication, in which- Figure l is atop view of my improved mopwringer. Fig. 2 is a side view of the same.

My invention has for its object to furnish a simple and convenient mop-wringer which shall be so constructed that the mop may be easily and thoroughly wrung without its being necessary for the operatorio put her hands into the dirty water to wring out the mop, and which at the same time may be made and sold for a triling sum; and it consists in the construction and combination of the various parts of the wringer, as hereinafter morefully described.

A is the frame, the side bars of which are connected with each other at one end at an angle, as shown in Fig. 1, and which are held in their proper relative positions by a crossbar, a', attached to their middle parts, and which projects above said bars to serve as a ledge for the mop-pail to rest against.

B is a rod, the ends of which are inserted in the forward parts of the side bars of the frame A in such a position in front of the cross-bar a of said frame that the mop-pail may be placed upon the said bars between the cross-bar a and the lower vertical parts of the rod B. The parts of the rod B rise vertically for about the height of a mop-pail, are bent back at right'angles, are curved inward, and

its middle part is bent to form a finger or arm,

b', as shown in Figs. l and 2.

In using the wringer, the mop-pail is set upon the frame A, between the cross-bars a', and the vertical parts of the rod B, and beneath the horizontal part of said rod, as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 2, so that when the said mop-pail is raised and carried by its bail it may carry the Wringer with it. The mop to be Wrung is placed upon the arm b of the rod B, as shown in Fig. 2, so that by placing the foot upon the rear part of the frame A, to hold it steady, and turning the mophandle the mop will be thoroughly wrung out without its being necessary for the operator to Wet her hands.

It should be observed that the mop used with this wringer must be close at its bottom, or must be tied together at its bottom, so that it may be caught upon the arm b.

It should also be observed that the form oi I the frame A may be changed without departing from my invention, provided it furnish a secure stand for the mop-pail, and projects in the rear sufficiently to receive the foot of the operator to enable it to be held steadily While the mop is being wrung. Y

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure byLetters Patent- An improved mop-Wringer, formed by the combination of the frame A a and rod B b', bent to project horizontally over the mop-pail, and to forni an arm, b', to receive the mop, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
