With the apparatus as thus fardescribed it is evident that the material as itis fed from the plate H, will be held in close contact therewith while'the individual rollers or presser bars' Lwill maintain all portions in' equally good contact. If the hot plate is of sufficient' length the material maybe dried without further apparatus, but where it is desired to accelerate the action or reduce the length of theplate, a Idrying hood may be employed. With the construction just described, the yheat of the plate H as well as that radiatingfrom' the coils O, will expel the moisture from the paper board.y The moist air will beremoved through the conduit P. There is however, a greater amount of moisture in the hood at the forward end thereof, than at the rear end, due to the fact that the air in exhausting is drawn forward. This is desirable as it prevents the mere surface drying of the paper by maintaining it for a `time in a comparatively moist atmosphere, but as the material is fed toward the rear, the amount of moisture in the atmosphere is progressivelydecreased so as to complete .l5 f v'dried thereover, and a series of'transverselythereover, a4 plurality ofpresser bars foryieldably 1o 1 pressure placed upon the .material by one presser bar being. independent of the re-l the drying.
