ROLLER TOWEL-RACK.

To all whom lt may concern:

Be it known that I, CURTIS GILBERT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Anaheim, in the county of Orange and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Roller Towel-Racks, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in towel racks and it is an object of the invention. to provide a towel rack which is constructed with a framing adapted to hold an. advertising medium in contact with the towel whereby when the towel is moved the said medium will be actuated for moving it to another position and exposing more advertising surface to view.

It is a further'object of the invention to provide a rack for a continuous towel, the roller of which is removably mounted in a casing, the said casing also carrying an advertising roller having advertising matter arranged upon its surface, the roller being arranged to engage the towel so that when the towel is moved in use, the roller carrying the advertising matter will be shifted for exposing the advertising material to View.

In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved towel rack forming the subject matter of the present invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse sectional view through the towel rack mechanism. Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional View taken upon the line 33 of Fig. 2, the central portion of the said rack mechanism being broken away.

The features of the invention will now be more specifically described, reference being had to the drawing in which 5 indicates a casing, 6 a roller carried thereby and 7 a towel of usual or ordinary material. The towel supporting means is like that commonly employed in connection with endless or looped towels which are suspended upon a roller. The roller 6 is adapted to engage bearings mounted in the end walls or brackets 8 of the casing 5. A removable block 9 is inserted in front of one of the journal bearings of the roller 6 on one side of the casing as shown in Fig. 2. By removing this block 9 the roller may be drawn out of its bearing at that end of said casing and the journal at the opposite end of the roller canthen be removed endwise from its bearing at the other end of the casing. the towel roller 6, and within the casing 5 is located a movable advertising medium preferably in the form of a roller 10. The roller 10 is usually made of considerably larger diameter than the roller 6 so as to afford ample peripheral surface for receiving information, data or advertising mate rial as found desirable. The said roller 10 is journaled in a closed bearing 11 at one end of the casing while its journal at the other end, engages an elongated bearing recess 11 which is adapted also to receive a block 12 similar to the block 9 for holding the roller in place. The casing 5 is preferably provided with a top or cover piece 13 and the back of the casing is formed with any suitable suspending device as 14. The front of the casing is preferably closed by means of a glazed door 15 which is usually hinged at the top as indicated at 16. The door is kept in closed position by means of a hook 17 which is arranged to engage an eye or loop 18 carried by the said door.

The door is provided with a large elongated opening opposite the upper roller 10, so as to expose almost the entire front surface of said roller. This opening as already intimated is preferably glazed so that when the door is closed the roller 10 can be seen through the glass and the information, advertising material or other data used upon the roller will be clearly seen. The closing of the door 15 operates to hold the blocks 9 and 12 in position so that the rollers cannot accidentally get out of place.

The bearings which receive the journals of the roller 10.are made sufficiently larger to permit of the roller 10 resting of its own weight upon the towel .upon the roller 6, so that when the towel is moved as in wiping the hands or face or changing it to reach clean or dry portion thereof, the roller 10 will be rotated and expose more surface to view, showing other advertising material or data that may be carried upon the face of the roller.

The device is of a simple construction, and yet the roller will always be automatically operated for changing the position of the roller and exposing the data or advertising material thereon successively.

What I claim is:

1. A mechanism of the class described, comprising a movable supporting roller, a rotatable advertising medium, mounted adjacent to said supporting roller, and an endournale d less frictional member mounted upon the supporting roller and receiving the Weight of the advertising medium whereby the advertising medium Will be rotated When the friction medium is moved.

2. A device of the class described, comprising a casing having a door formed With an opening therein, a supporting roller jour naled Within the casing, a superposed roller in the casing above the supporting roller and adapted to' receive advertising data upon its surface, an endless fabric/band mounted between the rollers for turning them when it is moved, and removable blocks engaging the journals of the said rollers for 5 permitting their Withdrawal from the easing, the said door being arranged to fasten said blocks in position.
