AUGUSTUS ABBOTT, or NEW YORK, n. ASSIGNOR 'IO ABBOTT com COUNTER COMPANY, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., A CORPORATION or DELAWARE.
C01N-PAOKAGING nae-211:2;
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 7, 1912.
Application filed September 16, 1911. Serial No. ,636.
I forming packages of or placing coins in packages, and the object thereof is to provide asimple and effective device of this class which may be conveniently manipulated by hand and which is inexpensive and designed for use in connection with or .on a table, desk or other support on which the coins are placed.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts bf my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure 1 IS a perspect ve VlGW showing my lmproved coln packaging device and showing one step in the method of its operation; Fig. 2 a PBISPQCtlX Q View of the packaging device and showing another step in the operation thereof, and Fig. 3 a partial section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
In the practice of my invention I provide a tube a which is closed at one end as shown at a and the other end of which is enlarged and flared or made slightly bell-shaped in form as shown at a and also preferably oblong in cross section, and one side thereof, the back side when in use, is cut out transversely thereof at an angle to said end as shown at a to form V-shaped recesses a at the opposite sides thereof and said end is also provided with projecting wings a which extend outwardly over said recesses with the edge of said table-entering the recesses a The other hand 6, orthe finger or fingers thereof are then used f0r-sliding the coins into the tube, and in this operation said coins fall into the bottom of the.
tube as shown at b in Fig. 3, and when the required number of coins have been thus deposited in the tube, a tubular package -f of paper or other fibrous material and one end of which is open, is inserted into the tube a as shown in Fig. 2 and the said tube is inverted, and said coins slide from the tube a into the tubular package f, as will be readily understood, after which the open endof the package tube f is closed or folded in the usual manner. 1
With the construction above described it will be seen that the back of the enlarged end of the tube a projects above the table, desk or other support 0 when the device is in use as shown at M, and the wings a form,
- p in connection with the back of the enlarged end of said tube, a guide-Way or chute which leads thereinto'and the sliding of the coins into the device may be quickly and easily effected.
This device is simple in construction and comparatively inexpensive, and by means,
thereof coins of any dimensions may be quickly placed in packages, and it will be understood that the dimensions of the device will depend upon the dimensions of the coins to be placed in said'packages.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new anddesire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A device of the class described, consisting of a tube closed at one end and open at the other, the open end being slightly enlarged and one side thereof being cut away at an angle to said end' and provided with projecting wing portions.
2. A device of i he class described, comprising a tube open at one end and closed at the other, the open end being enlarged and made oblong in crosss ection, and one side portion thereof being cut away at an angle to'said end and provided w'ith projecting wing portions.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of the subscribing witnesses this 14th day of September 1911'.
. AUGUSTUS ABBOTT.
