Be it known that we, JAMES BIRRELL and WILLIAM BIRRELL, citizens of the United States, residing at Seattle, in the county of. King and State of Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Induced Suction ,for Vacuum- Cleaners, of'which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to vacuum cleaning apparatus and, more particularly, to devices a dust collecting nozzle through a discharge .plpe. I I
The object of the present invention 1s the provision of a device'associated with the .dust discharge pipe and arranged to be detachably' connected to a faucet of a house water-system a'fiording water pressure sufficient to induce a flow of air to create the requisite suction. I
A further object is the adaptation of the device so that the dust-laden air when drawn into a suitable chamber will subject,
the dust to the water for saturation thereby causing the produced heavy matter to free itself from the air, so that the latter finally escapes in a practically purified state.
The invention is illustrated in the accompan ing drawing which is a vertical sect-ion of t e same applied to a water-faucet.
The reference numeral. 1 represents awater-faucet provided with a threaded'bib 2, as ordinarlly. 3 is an internally threaded socket which is screwed upon said bib. Extending downwardly from such socketis a water discharge nozzle 4 which projects into" a suction-chamber'5. Thi's'chamber is made of a substantially conoidal shape and has at its bottom a discharge opening 6 extending through a nozzle 7,Wl1iCh, iI1 turn, projects" downwardly into what wed'esignate as the mixing-chamber 8. This chamber is i also of a conoidal shape and has a'dischargc 'o'pening 9 at the bottom through a tubular extension 10. The axes of'the aforesaid chambers, nozzles and the 'extension' 1Q' are in vertical alinement with the axis of the lfaw.
