dow- IMPROVEMENT IN HOISTING--MACHINIEL The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same We, RICHARD A. KENDALL and WILLIAM KEN- DALL, of Mineral Point., in the county of Iowa and State of Wisconsin, have invented Improvements in Hoistiug-IVIachinery, of which the following isa speciticatiou.
Nature and Object of the luren-tion.
The first part of our invention relates to the combination of hoisting-frame and gear with floor-doors in such a manner that the said floor-door carries with it the entire machine, thus affording a firm base to rest on when open, and also securely placing the same out of the way when closed.
The second part of our invention relates to the folding property of the machine itself, whereby it is rendered compact for putting away, or opened out for use. Y.
lhe third part of our invention relates to the combination of the aforesaid floor-door and folding hoisting-machine with weighing-scale, placed near the top of the folding arm, iu such a manner that it can be used or not in connection with hoisting, all as hereinafter more fully specified.
Figure 1 represents the door opened and the ma.- chine also opened out for operation.
Figure 2 represents the \veigl1ii \gattachnient, also in operation.
Figure 3 represents the machine folded, the door open.
Figure 4 represents the door closed and the niachine put away.
A is the frame of the machine, which frame should be substantially constructed and securely bolted to the under side of the door.
B is the door.
C is 'the folding arm, hinged to the frame at X.
I) D are movable leg-supports, the upper ends of which are pivoted to the folding arm, the lower ends resting on the sleeper or frame-work of the door.
The relative positions' of the folding arms and legsupport-s are seen as open at iig. 1, and folded at fig. 3.
E represents the weighiiig-attachment iu the form of the spring-balance.
F is the hook which is fastened to the main rod of the scale by a hinged joint, for the purpose of ready adjustment to the ring supporting the articles to be weighed.
When it is not desirable to use the weighing-scale the hook can be turned out of the way.
We do not claim the cog-wheel gear for hoistingpurposes. \Ve do not Claim the invention of the spring-balance orany improvement thereon.
We claim` in our invention as new and desire to i 4. The severally herein claimed and specified devices, whether used separately or in combination.
