DISH-DRYING RACK.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 9, 191,2.
Application tiled May 8, 1.911. Serial N0.`625,825.
'following is a specification in such full andclear terms as will enable those skilled in the art to construct and use the same.
This invention relates to a dish rack andits'object is to providemeans wliei'eby a considerable number of plates and other dishes may be supported upon edge for the purpose ofv drying them without .danger of breakage.
Another object of the invention is to provide a rack which will be readily assembled or disassembled whenever necessary, as for example, 'it may be desirable to leave'the rack in a given place or itmay bc desired to simply leave the board upon which it is secured inplace on the wall, the remaining portions of the rack being removable therefrom and stored in some convenient place.
In the drawings in which the saine niimeral of reference is applied to the saine portion throughout the several views, Figure l is a plan view of the completely assembled rack, Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the completely assembled rack, Fig. 3 is an end view of one of the brackets witlithc plate holding racks thereon, Fig. 4f is a front edge view of the central bracket, Fig. 5 is a side elevation of one of the brackets, Fig. (l is a plan view of th'e small rack collapsed and ready for packing, and' Fig. 7 is a plan view of the large rack collapsed and ready for packing.
The numeral l represents a board'of such length as may be desired, said boardl'iaving 4 cleats 2 on the face thereof at the ends and atwthe center, there being wsix of said cleats.
' The cleats support brackets 2l Vhaving lugs J.
which project behind the cleats'aiid hold the brackets .i'nplace. Each bracket isprovid'ed with a suitable scroll 5" to strengthen the same and with four iipturned hooks 6, the
central bracket. 7 having eight'I of the hooks ti, four on each side thereof. The hooks 6" pass tl'iroughround holes in the ends of' bars 8 and l). the former having'upwardly extending wires 1() connected therewith and the'latter having curved wires .l1 connected therewith. The object of curving the wires 'l1 is to make easy the placing of plates bctween Vsaid wires, and the wires 10 prevent them from sliding or falling ott' the rack, the plate being inserted in the position shown in Fig. 2.
It will be observed that one section 'has all of the wires at substantially thtI saine distance apart, the olriect being to provide spaces fon plates therein. The other section,
-it will be' observed, is provided with wires at varying distances apart, this being neef essary'A .order totaonnnodate dishes of 'ditereni sizes.
It will'ybe noted that the dish-holding racks may be removed from the brackets by ysimply lifting theinotf the hooks ti and the brackets may likewise bc removed from the hooks 4f leave the cleats.
Since the- 'ack nuist bc of considerable width, it is very convenientmfor packaging for 'shipineiitto have lthe bars 8 and t) collapsible, so that the total width when collapsed isiiot greater than'the width of the. Vboard upon which the brackets are secured,
thus effecting considerable saving in shipment of the racks. Y
' Having thus-described my invention what l claiin as new and desire to secure by liettcrs Patent of the United'stateslis as follows t ln a dish rack` a board, brackets removably secured to .said hoard and having a. pluralityof iipturned hooks, two sets of V'two hars supported by .said hooks on saidbrackets in two ditt'ercnt planes, horizontally, the upper pair of hars being at a. greater distance from cach other than t-he lower pair of bars, outwardly and horizontally extending curved wires connecting the -two lower hars and cui-ved wiresconnectingy the t-Wo tially in tlievsanie plane as the upper bars.
-board l bysimply raising them until the l ln testimony whereof l have hereuntoset in'v hand this ltlth day of April A. l) 1911, in the` presence of the two-subscribed witnesses.
