'Be it-known that I, OSCAR S. Frrzsinoxs,

a' citizen of the United States, residing `at Waterbury, in the county 'of NewHaven `and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new anduseful Improvements injFlagl Holder VAttachments for Automobile-Radiators, Sac., of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates particularly to a device forv supporting or holding a flag or pennant.

. Small flags or pennants of various designs and bearing various insignia are often carried by motor Vehicles either for purely ornamental purposes or to indicatemelnbership in some organization, etc. By reason of the speed that the cars travel and of the uses to which the devices are subjected difficulty is often Aencountered in that the flag or pennant becomes furled or otherwise twisted and deranged.

It is my objectto avoid this diliculty and at the same time, provide a simple, inexpensive attachment which can be readily attached to a radiator cap or detached therefrom and to which a Hag may he quickly attached or detached. By this means flags or penna-nts may be readily substituted, one for the other, when desired.

The referred form of thev invention is shown 1n the accompanying single sheet of drawings and the details of which will be readily understood from the rfollowing specification.

The term flag will be used throughout hereafter and in the claims to designate 4any type or design of flag or pennant or similar device.

A motor vehicle is indicated by the reference numeral 1 and has a radiator cap 2 on which is mounted my invention with a flag 3 on the post 4. 0n the post 4: is supported a wire frame or-holdcr having a vertical portion 5 a mltcrminating in loops or eyes and 7 at the top and bottom respectively.

These loops encircle the post 4 and the bottom loop rests upon the collar 8. The lower part of the post 4 is slightly smaller in diameter than the upper portion and is screwthreaded at 9, a shoulder 10 being thus afforded between the screw-threaded portion and the main portion. The base 11 surrounds the screw-threaded end 9, the post `being drawn down and attached to the 'radiator cap 2 by means of the two nuts 12 and 13, the shoulder 10 resting upon the upper surface of the base 11. By this means the device may be' securely attached to the radiator cap. At the upper end of the post is a knob 14 having a screw-threaded portion 15 which engages in a screw-threaded recess or socket- 16 in the upper end of the post 4. A flange 17 projects outwardly and has substantially the same diameter as the loop 6. In this way when the flag holder is mounted upon the post 4 the shank 15 of the knob '14 may be screwed down into the socket 16 so that the 'lange 17 will hold the 6 in place. While the wire holder is thus'safely held it is left free to rotate upon .base and a clamping device and a threaded recess at the upper end. a flag carryingl holder revolubly mounted upon said post 'and a removable knob having a threaded ste-m coacting with-said threaded recess for detachably holding the holder in place.

As an article of manufacture, an attachment of the character described comprising a post screw-threaded at its lower end, a base member surrounding the screwthreaded portion, a nut for securing said base member to said post and a second nut for clamping saidy post and base member to a support, a flag-carrying holder mounted upon and revoluble about said post above said base member and a knob removably engagimer the upper end of said pot for detachably holding said holder in place.
