SAFETY-RAZOR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 26, 1912.
Application filed April 25, 1910. Serial No. 557,523.
I To all whom it may concern:
with a plurality of cutting edges is held be tween guard and cover lates.
My invention has for its object a construction whereby therazor blade may be readily detached and replaced, without the necessity of detaching and replacing any of the component parts of the razor.
According to my invention, the blade cover plate which is spring controlled, is so sha ed in relation to an aperture in the bla e, thatsaid blade is locked between the cover and guard plates, and unlocked by the partial rotation of said cover plate.
In the annexed drawing is illustrated, by way of example, one modeof embodying this invention.
Figure 1 is a plan view, Fig. 2 a part sectional elevation, and Fig. 3 shows a detached blade. Y
.to receive the blade and prevent its displacement when on the guard plate 0.
e is a triangular blade holding plate socured to a spindle 1, around which is disposed a spring 9 fitted between a collar h secured to said spindle and a shoulder 2' provided in the hollow handle 9', which handle is secured'to the perforated guard plate 0.
la is a button at the lower end of spindle f. As shown in Fig. 1, blade a is locked on to the guard plate 0 .by plate 6, under the influence of spring g.
When it is required to remove a blade a for stropping, or renewal, spindle f'is first pressed upward-against the resistance of spring g-by means of a button k, and then turned until plate 6 coincides with the projection d of guard plate 0, when the blade a may be removed and another blade fitted; spindle f is then pressed upward and turned again to the position shown in Fig. 1 and released, when holding plate e firmly holds the new-blade a in position on the guard plate 0.
Having now described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In safety razors of the type herein described, in combination a guard plate, a cover plate. rotatable relatively thereto, a razor-blade between these two plates and with an aperture, said cover plate and said blade-aperture bein of such sizes to cause said blade to be 100 ed or unlocked on the partial rotation of said cover plate to bring said aperture and cover plate into or out of register with each other; a hollow handle attached to the guard plate and rovided with an internal shoulder; a spindle rigidly at tached to the cover plate; a collar on said spindle, anda spring disposed around said fpindle between said shoulder and said colar. 2. In safety razors of the type herein 'described. in combination a guard plate, a cover plate, a razor-blade provided with an aperture, said cover plate and said aperturebeing of such shape that said blade is locked or unlocked on the partial rotation of said cover plate to bring said aperture and cover plate into or out of register with each other; a hollow handle attached to the guard plate and provided with an internal' shoulder; a spindle secured to the cover plate; a collar on said spindle a spring disposed around said spindle between said shoulder and said collar, and means for rotating said spindle and cover plate relatively to the guard plate.
In testilnon whereof'I affix my signature in presence 0 two witnesses.
REUBEN RUBENS.
