B. BUCK,
SAFETY RAZOR. APPMUATIUN Mmm mm' 1s, im,

` SAFETY-anion. l y
Specification of Letters Patent.
Aratemea Mar. i9, 1912.
Application filed July 18, 1911. Serial No. 639,083. i
To all whom t may concern f Be it known that l, BENNETT C. BUCK, a
citizen of the `Unitedl States, residing at Beardstowon, in the county of Cass and State of Illinois, have invented new and usefulv blade may be held fast Within .the head of the razor and also iscapable of being removed therefrom for the purpose of sharpening the same.
Another object of the inver; ion is the provision of a safety razor in which the handle is formed of separable sections, one of said sections being provided with abifurcation adapted to receive a blade foi-'holding it whereby .l the saine may be sharpened, when it has become dull.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a safety razor which is simple ,in construct-ion, thoroughly reliable and efficient in operation, and inexpensive in manufacture.
In the drawings: Figurerl is an elevation of a safety razor constructed in'accordance with the invention. Fig.' 2 is atop plan View thereof, with `the blade partially removed. Fig. 3 is a fragmentary vertical sectional view through the razor. Fig. l4 is a plan view of the blade, looking toward the under face thereof." Fig. 5 isa side elevation of the handle, showing the blade in position therein for the sharpening thereof. Fig. 6 is a sectional view on'the line 6-6 of Fig. 5. i
Similar reference characters indicate cor- .responding lparts throughout the several ledges with a plurality of teeth 6, while at. the cornersof the said head 5 are provided upwardly and inwardly turned-gripping ears or clips 7 which are adapted to 'engage a razor tion.
Projecting centrally from the opposite face of the head-5 -is an'externally threaded lug or stud 1l which is adapted to detach? ably engage in an internally threaded socketformed in one end of a handle or stem which.
comprises inner and out-er sections 12 and 13, the outer section beingformed at one end with suitable' screw threads, whereby `the same may be screwed into the ladjacent end of the innersection 12, the saine being formed with a suitable lthreaded socket for receiving the threaded end of the outer sec- The opposite end of thd outer section 13 is bifurcated to form a fork 14, the inner face. of one limb of which is formed with spaced parallel dove-tail ribs or tongues 15 disposed longitudinally thereof, so that upon the insertion of the blade 8 within the forkv 14, the said dove-tail ribs 15 will e n gage in the dove-tail grooves l() in one face of the blade for securely holding the same inthe fork, the inner face of the other limb of the fork 14 being concaved correspondingly to the adjacent face of the blade 8, when inserted in the fork. The blade, when mounted in the fork 14 of the outer section 18 of the handle will be securely held fast therein, .whereby it may be readily and easily sharpened in the ordinary well-known maiiner. It is to be understood that the outer section v13 is engaged 'with the inner section 12 of the handle when sharpening. the blade` and the head 5 is detached therefrom.
lVhatis claimed is:
A razor comprising a head, dove-tailed ribs formed on the upper side of said head, and extending longitudinally thereof, and a erinnern o. Buen, or ianiinnsrown, rtnmorsl doubie .edge b1ade having." (ilove-tailed grooves formed centrally inthe inner side v thereof,v `rsaid vgromes', extending logi'tudiv presence 'of two Witnesses.
nellyv of said 'blade and opening out through' '5 the side edges of the'blade, said grooves reeving said ribs to secure the blade to' the s 3' Witnesse z BENNETT 'C'. BUCK.l
