To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUcUs'r Mm'rz, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at Gharlottenburg, near Berlin, Prussia, Germany, have invented a new and useful Slide- Closure for Vessels, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a slide closure for vessels, particularly for luln-icating-oil vessels.
In particular, the present invention relates to a closure for vessels, by which a cover is provided on one do, or on both sides, with a slide-closure for the filling opening, whereby the slideclosure, or the two slideclosures, are pressed against the cover by the action of a spring, for the purpose of obtaining a closing as tight as possible. The spring ettects also the return of the respective slide or slides to the closed position. The possible load of the spring which presses the respective closure-slide or slides against the cover-surface, is, according to the invention, to be limited, and, further, in the event of a breakage of this spring, a closing as tight as possible is still to be assured. Gonformably to the invention, this is obtained by an arrangement, which, notwithstanding the elastic pressure of the respective slide or slides against the cover-surface, prevents a vertical displacement of such slide or slides.
A construction of the invention is shown by the drawings.
Figure 1 shows a section of a lubricating oil vessel provided with the slide-closure. Fig. 2 is the plan view of the same.
By the represented construction of the closure of a lubricating oil vessel (4, the filling opening f is provided with an upper slide-closure 0,0n the cover Z), and a lower slide-closure (Z. The lower slide-closure (Z is fitted to a square portion of the handle it, the shank g of which is prolonged downward, and has a thread. On this thread is placed a sleeve 71, with inner and outer threads, to which a disk 70 is screwed. Retween the disk 70, and the lower slide-surface d, there is placed a spiral spring Z. The upper end of the spring lies elastically against the pin n, fastened to the cover 6, the lower end against the pin m, fastened to the turnslidc (I. The slide (l is provided with a circumferential depression for the pin a. The possible turning of the slides corresponds with the length of the aperture. The spring Z draws or presses respectively, the two slides (r, and (Z, against the surface of the cover I) and moves back the slides, at the same time, automatically from the open position into the closed position. \Vhat I do claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is 2-- 1.. In an oil cup closure, the combination of an oil cup cover provided with an oil inlet opening and a pivot opening for the closure, a closure slide above the cover having a screwthreaded shank extending through the pivot opening, a lower slide member beneath the cover positively connected to the shank portion, a sleeve screw threaded to the shank to hold the closure slide in operative position, a disk screw-threaded to the sleeve member, a spring sin-rounding the sleeve member between the lower closure slide and disk adapted to be compressed by the latter said spring having its ends operativ'ely connected respectively to the cover and closure whereby the closure is automati' cally returned to normal position, and the slides held closely against the cover.

In an oil cup closure, the combination of an oil cup cover provided with an oil inlet opening and a pivot opening for the closure, a closure slide above the cover having a screwthreaded shank extending through the pivot opening, a lower slide member beneath the cover positively connected to the shank portion, a sleeve screw threaded to the shank to hold the closure slides in operative position.
