JULIUS MOOG, OF KARLSRUHE, GERMANY, ASSIGNOR TO EMIL HEU SNER, OE NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
Letters Patent No. 102,030, dated April 19, 1870.
IMPROVED METHOD OI TREATING TRACING-PAPER.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JULIUS MOOG, of Karlsruhe, Baden, Germany, have invented a new-and improved Method of Treating Tracing-Paper; and I do hereby declare that the ibllowing is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same.
, This invention hasfor its object toremove the transparency from the tracing paper after a drawing has been transferred upon the same, so that it-will be restored to the appearance'of ordinary paper. Tlie designs will thereby appear. to have been made upon non-transparent drawing-paper, which will increase their value.
The tracing-paper is made by treating non-trans-' parent paper with oily matter, such as oil of turpentine and others, such matter being generally mixed with some resinous substance. All that is required to restore the original appearance of the paper is to dissolve such oily matter and remove the same.
Alcohol, as well as ether and other liquids, are the best solvents for such oily and resinous substances. Therefore, when the drawing has been made, the paper is merely steeped in alcohol or its equivalent, and then What I claim asnew, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
Restoring the, original non-transparent quality to.
tracing-paper, after the same has received the design, substantially as herein shown and described.
The abovespecification of my invention signed by me this 29th day of June, 1869.
J. MOOG.
