To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALLAN C. NELSON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Flushing, Long Island, New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Chance Devices, of which the following is a specification, accompanied by drawings.

This invention relates to improvements in game counters, and the objects of the invention are to enable a number of different 'ames to be played by the same apparatus 8 and afford means for quickly manipulating the devices without mistakes or errors.

To these ends the invention consists of the apparatus and devices substantially as hereinafter fully described and claimed in this specification and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a front view of one form of an indicator; Fig. 2 is a side elevation of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a side elevation of a modification of the indicator mounted on a game board; Fig. 4 is an edge view of Fig. 3 with the board in closed position; Fig. 5 is an enlarged detail transverse sectional view of the pivot of the disk in Fig. 3; Figs. 6 and 7 are edge views of modified forms of the disk; Figs. 8 and 9 are edge views of other modified forms of the disk; Fig. 10 is a perspective view of another modification of the disk.

In Figs. 1 and 2 I have shown one form of counter or indicator adapted to cooperate with a game board. This indicator comprises a revoluble disk G provided with indentations or corrugations D on the periphery of its upper face. The indentations may be formed as shown with slanting surfaces separated by shoulders E, or they may be in the form of rounded corrugations F as shown in Fig. 6 or angular corrugations as shown at G, Fig. 7. If desired, a plate disk may be provided having angular radial ribs F Fig. 8, or rounded edges forming ribs G, Fig. 9. In Fig. 10 another modification of the disk is shown in the form of a wheel having spokes a and a rim 6 on which suitable symbols may be indicated. The disk 0 is preferably mounted at an angle on the pivot H on the upper end of the support J and may be provided with a loose washer K between the disk and the support. Another large washer L and a smaller washer O are provided between the disk and the stem or axle P of the wheel or roller Q, which as shown is hung from the pivot H by said axle P and is adapted to roll over the indentations or corrugations D of the disk O when said disk is rotated by means of the pins or finger pieces R. Between the corrugations D and the center of the disk are provided sectors having suitable designations or symbols as shown. \Vhen the disk C is spun on its pivot the roller or wheel Q which is preferably of appreciable weight, rolls over the periphery of the disk and as the disk stops rotating the roll Q, comes to rest on one of the indentations or corrugations D, whereby a particular symbol or designation at the center of the disk is designated. The construction of the disk C with indentations on its periphery prevents any question arising as to the exact designation indicated by the wheel Q, because said wheel cannot come to rest at a point between two corrugations, but must always rest upon one corrugation only. Although the wheel Qmay project over or upon one of the adjacent corrugations D it must always wholly rest upon the surface of one corrugation only. In this way confusion as to the exact symbol intended is prevented.

In Figs. 3, t and 5 a modified form of mounting for the rotary indicator is shown, comprising the base-board a adapted to be slipped under the playing board A. To the base-board a is hinged at b the flap 0, to which in turn is hinged at (l the flap e adapted to carry the rotary indicator. To the flap 0 is hinged at f the flap g adapted to be turned under as indicated in Fig. 3 and abutted against the cleat h. When the disk is removed from the flap e the support may be straightened out and laid flat as indicated in Fig. l. In order to removably secure the disk C to the flap 0 the pivot H is preferably provided with a reduced screw threaded portion 1' adapted to pass through an aperture 7c in the flap e and having a nut 0. Metallic washers p are preferably provided for the reduced portion j on opposite sides of the flap 6 to securely hold the pivot in position. The remainder of the construction is the same as shown in Fig. 2.

I claim and desire to obtain by Letters Patent the following:

1. A chance device or indicator comprising a revoluble diskhaving corrugations or indentations on its face, and a roller adapted to roll over saidcorrugations, the roller having an axle of the disk.

2. A chance device or indicator c0mprising a revoluble disk inclined to the vertical and provided With corrugations or indentations on its upper face, and a roller hung from the center of the disk and adapted to roll over said corrugations when the disk is rotated.

3. A chance device or indicator comprising a revoluble disk pivotally mounted at an angle and provided on its periphery with corrugations or indentations, and a roller loosely hung from the pivotal point of said disk and adapted to roll over said corrugations When the disk is rotated.

4. A chance device or indicator comprising a revoluble disk, a pivot for said disk inclined to the vertical, corrugations or indentations around the periphery of the upper face of said disk, a radial axle loosely pivoted on the pivot of said disk, and a Wheel or roller loosely mounted at the outer pivoted at the pivotal point end of said aXle and adapted to roll over said corrugations Whenthe disk is rotated.

5. A chance device or indicator comprising a revoluble disk inclined at an angle and having corrugations or indentations around the periphery of its upper face, a series of designations on the disk corresponding to the number of corrugations, and a roller pivotally mounted from the center of the disk and adapted to roll over said corrugations When the disk is rotated.

6. A chance device or indicator comprising a disk having radial divisions, said disk being mounted at an angle, and a roller adapted to roll over said divisions, the roller having the disk.
