have invented certain new and useful lm- Vprm'ements in Metallic Mattresses, of which v in which the top of the same shall be of interwoven straps flexibly secured to a rigid supporting frame; and to so secure these straps to a plurality of the flexible means that the latter will be held firmly in place and that a uniform movement of said means will be obtained.

Referring now to the drawings, it will be noted that the improved mattress includes a rigid supporting frame built up of lateral angle pieces 1() which terminate in end blocks or corners 1l having raised portions 12 integral therewith. To these raised por tions are secured the end or head members 13, of angle pieces, the whole constituting a 'rigid supporting frame.

Extending along the entire length ot the supporting frame, atsuitable intervals, are a number ot straps 14 secured to the end members 13 by means of suitable springs 15; and interwoven with these straps are These interwoven straps 14: and 1G form the top of the mattress. At the under side of the stationary frame are transverse lower straps or beams 17 suit-ably secured to the corresponding angle pieces 10. These straps may b'e secured to the angle pieces 10 bymeans of projections 18 extending outwardly. l`iom the same and passing through perforations 19 provided therefor in the angle pieces 10.

Straps l? extend preferably below the angle pieces 10; and between the same and the upper straps 16 are located suitable conical springs 20. These 'springs are attached at the top and bottom to the respective straps in any suitable manner, but I prefer to secure them in the manner illustrated, viz:-

Thev connection to the upper straps is effected similarly but the adjacent springs are connected with one another so that uniform '.movementof the whole is obtained. For

this 'purpose suitable ties 22 are employed, the same securing the adjacent springs to one another, and the ends 23 of the springs passing tl'irough'corresponding perforations provided therefor in the said upper straps and then turned back or twisted. Cylindrical springs .24 are also provided, and support the straps 16,' beingsecured at their lower end to the angle' pieces 10 in a manner .similar to that by which the springs 20 are secured to their straps. At 'their top they are secured by means of a bolt and nut 25 passing through the junction of lthe straps 14 and 16 which serves to secure also the said straps to each other. Y The interwoven straps are thus fle'xiblysupported by thel rigid .frame through the cylindrical 1springs 24;, as well as through conical springs E20 and the straps ln securing the adjacent conical springs to one another,

a more uniform movement of the mattress as a whole is obtained. Suitable stops 26 extend downwardlyfrom the angle pieces l() to limit the lateral movement ofthe mattress.

l claim z- 1. A metallic spring mattress comprising: a rigid frame; longitudinal and transverse interwoven upper straps; springs securing said' longitudinal straps to the ends of said frame; cylindrical springs held between the sides of said frame and the interwoven straps to support the latter; lower transverse straps; and conical springsheld tmtween said upper and lower straps.

2. A metallic spring mattress comprising:

.side pieces and riser at. the end of each piece,

and end pieces secured to said riser to prom vide a rigid trame; longitudinal and'transverse interwoven straps; springs securing .said longitudinal straps to said end, pieces;

cylindricalsprings resting on said longitudinal side pieces and having their lower ends passing through suitable perforations provided therein and turned over to secure the saidsprngs to the said pieces; means adapted to secure the end longitudinal straps and said transverse straps'to each other and to the upper end of said cylindrical springs; lower straps secured to the side pieces; and

conical springs'l between said upper and lower transverse straps, the ends of said V conical springs passing through perforapieces; -cylindrical springs resting on said longitudinal side pieces and having their lower ends passing through suitable lper- 'forations provided therein and turned over to secure the said springs to the said pieces means adapted to secure the end longitudinal straps and said transverse straps to each other and to the upper end of said cylindrical springs; lower transverse straps secured to the side piecesyconical springs between said upper and lower transverse straps, the ends of said springs passing through perforations provided therefor in the said upper and lower straps and turned back to secure said conical springs to the said upper and lower straps; and means to`tie t e upper ends of adjacent conica-l springs vto one an'- other.
