Description

B. A. KREVIS.
TIE HOLDER.
APPLIOATION FILED MAY 11, 1911 1,019,489, I Patented M21125, 1912.
Wdmm/ jnveult/ UNITE sa T OFFICE.
TIE-HOLDER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMIL A. Knnvis, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tie-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in tie-holders and has for its object the provision of a device of this character whlch shall be of neat and simple design and suitable for advertising purposes.
A further object of my invention is to provide an advertising device of the character stated which shall be so constructed as to be foldable into a compact form for transportation purposes.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
With these objects in view my invention consists in the novel construction and arrangement of parts all as will be hereinafter more fully described and partlcularly pointed out in the appended claims.
My invention will be more readily understood by reference to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, and in which,
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a tieholder embodying my invention, the same being shown in extended condition, and Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the tie-holder showing the same in folded condition.
The preferred form of construct-ion of my invention as illustrated in the accompanying drawings comprises a plurality of elongated parallel compartments 1 formed from an elongated rectangular blank of paper or card-board. The bottom of each compartment 1 is provided with a score 2 which runs transversely of the blankand longitudinally of its respective compartment. The object of the score 2 is to render the bottom foldable, said score being midway between the sides or walls of the compartment and dividing the bottom into two equal parts. The blank is also provided with transverse scores 3, the partitions 4: between the compartments being formed by bending the blank along the scores 3 and by pasting together the contiguous walls formed thereby, this construction being clear by reference to Fig. 1. The lower edge of each wall composing a partition 4 is also scored in order to facilitate the folding of the device. It is apparent from the construction shown that the partitions are double-walled Specification of Letters Patent.

and that the exterior walls 5 of the outermost compartments are of but a single thickness and consequently of less stiffness or strength than said partitions. In order to reinforce the walls 5 and to cause them to assume a vertical or perpendicular position as shown in Fig. 1 pliable metallic clips 6 are provided and pasted or otherwise secured centrally on the exterior surface of said walls 5, the object of the pliability of said clips being that they may be bent into any desired form. Thus in the extended condition as shown in Fig. l the clips 6 are bent into right angular form and when the device is folded as shown in Fig. 2 said clips are bent from the right angular form as indicated by dotted lines into the full line positions whereby the parts of the device are held together for transportation and advertising purposes. The exterior surface of the walls 5 will obviously be exposed when the device is folded, hence this surface is utilized for advertisements as indicated in Fig. 1. Each compartment of the device is of suflicient capacity to hold one or more ties 7 which are preferably positioned therein as shown in Fig. 1. It is understood that the device is placed horizontally upon a table or dresser, so that no means other than gravity is necessary for holding the ties 7 in place in the compartments.
A tie-holder or advertising device of the construction set forth is neat of appearance and when folded is suitable for transportation or advertising purposes.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I therefore do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let-- ters Patent is:
1. A device of the class described com-' prising a series of elongated parallel compartments formed from an elongated rec tangular blank scored transversely, the partitions between the compartments being double-walled and formed by bending said blank along the scores thereof, and metallic reinforcing clips provided on the exterior Walls of the outermost compartments, substantially as described.
2. Adevice of the class described comprising a series of elongated parallel compartments formed from an elongated rectangular paper blank scored transversely, the partitions between the compartments being doub1e\valled and formed by bending said 10 blank along the scores thereof, the Walls of said partitions being pasted together, and pliable metallic reinforcing clips provided on the exterior Walls of the outermost compartments, said clips being centrally positioned on their respective Walls, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
