ELECTROPLATING WITH ZINC.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUSTE ARSENE LE- Mfi'rRn, a citizen of the Republic of France, residing at Paris, France, have invented new and useful Improvements in Electroplating with Zinc, of which the following is a specification.
This application is a division of my prior application Serial Number 630,158, filed ployment of a cold bath of a special composition from which there is deposited electrolytically upon'metal parts such as already mentioned an adherent layer of metallic zinc. This bath comprises the chemical compounds set forth below in substantially the following proportions:
' Sulfate of zinc 12 kilos. Ammonium chlorid 3 Sulfate of soda Q 2 Sulfuric acid 1 *Water 100 liters.
The bath should be used in a cold state, that is.to say, it should not be maintained at a temperature exceeding approximately 30 degrees centigrade'.
The sulfate of zinc and water are added as such, but according to the premnt invention instead of adding the ammonium chlorid, sulfate of soda and sulfuric as such, these reagents may be replaced in part or 'in whole by various chemical compounds which are capable of' forming by their union or by their combination or by their dissociation in the liquid of the bath any or all of the above reagents. Thus it is possible to employ bisulfate of soda, for example, which is capable of replacing, either in whole or in part, the sulfate of soda and sulfuric acid. Similarly the bisulfites, sulfites and 'sulfurous acid, which are capable of being oxidized to the corresponding sulfates or sulfuric acid, may be used.
As already stated an electrolytic deposit is formed byemploying the bath having the composition indicated above, and passing therethrough a suitable electric current; it isnecessary to regulate the current proportionally to the surface of the objects to be treated and to the capacity of the bath.
For the anode an appropriate zinc plate should be employed.
I claim: I
1. A process of electroplating with zinc which comprises preparing a bath comprising zinc sulfate, water, and materials capable of producing ammonium chlorid, sodium sulfate and sulfuric acid in the bath, and passing an electric current through the said bath, containing an article to be electroplated, thus forming. an adherent deposit of zinc upon such article.
2. A process of electroplating with zinc which comprises preparing a bath comprising zinc sulfate, water, and materials capable of producing ammonium chlorid, sodium sulfate and sulfuric acid in the bath, and passing an electric current through the said bath containing an article to be treated usingfa zinc plate as the anode, thus forming an adherent deposit of zincr'upon such article.
3. A process of electroplating withzinc which comprises preparing a bath comprising zinc sulfate, water, and materials capable of producing ammonium chlorid, sodium sulfate and sulfuric acid in the bath, and passing an electric current through the said bath While in a cold state containing an article to be electroplated thus forming an adherent deposit of zinc upon such article.
4. An electroplating bath comprising zinc v sulfate, water, and materials capable of yielding in the bath ammonium chlorid, so-
