Referring now `more particularly to the drawings,y wherein, like numerals of reference designate similar parts in each of the figures, the numeral 5 refers tothe carwall provided withl the usual side opening through which the contents of the car are v loaded. This opening is closed in the usual manner by means of the ordinary slide door 6. In addition to this door I have provided my improved door to be used when the car contains such grains aswheat, oats, etc., or

fruits or vegetables or similar contents.

This door is swung from wit-hin the car in the manner presently to be described. I

19 and 20. The members are hinged together along the line 21 and the 'members 20 are hinged to` the sid'es of the shutter along the line 22. The free edge of each member 19 carries an outwardiy projecting rib 23 which fits into groove of cleats 12, as shown in Fig. 3,when the shutter is open and secures the aprons to the door.

It is sometimes desirable to shut oft' the discharge of the car contents before the car is entirely unloaded and lfor this purpose I the full length of the cleats 12. The lower portionof each side of this gate is inwardly shouldered, as at 25, so that the lower edge thereofl may fit down between the apron members 19l and firmly secure the ribs 23 in grooves 13, when shutter 15 is open for the discharge of the car contents. Then is desired to cut off the discharge entirely the ribs 19 are removed `om grooves 13 and placed in grooves 14 ci' `cleats 12 as show? in Figyet and the slide gate 24 then entirely closed. 'When it is desired to close slu'itter 15 the gate 24 is elevated and the aprons of the shut-ter are folded rst along line 21 the rib 23 falling between the

19 and 20 and said members being folded then against said shutter, as shown ,in dotted lines in Figs. l and 5, and the shutter then secured closed, as shown in said Ifigures.

It will be observed that the aprons serve the; double purpose ofsupporting theshutter when the same is'open and the grainis passing thereover, and also form the sides of" a discharge chute of which the shutter itself forms vthe bottom.V Y 1' WV hat I claim is l.
