TILTING BOTTLE.

Be it known that I, HUGO TURK, a sub- Aject of the Emperor of Germany, and resident of Iserlohn, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in and Relating to Tilting Bottles, of which the following is 'a speciiication.
This invention relates to a tilting support for bottles intended to contain liquids and more especially antiseptic liquids and to allow their being rapidly and easily poured out of the bottle in rooms for surgical operations, cabinets of doctors or of dentists in chemists shops, laboratories, druggists shops, restaurants and so on z'. e., everywhere where one must have any liquid rapidly at ones disposal.
The accompanying drawings given by way 'of example show one form of embodiment of the invention and in these drawings:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of t-he bottle in a closed state; Fig. 2 is an analogous view of the same in an open state while Fig. 3 shows a perspective side elevation of the bottle. Fig. 4, is a detail section of the connection between the rods and the extensions, forming part of the frame. vF ig. 5 is a detail perspective view of one of the bearings for supporting one of the trunnions.
The bottle 1 is supported by a base ring 2 which is open or interrupted at its front as indicated at 3. The base ring is provided with a flange 4 (Fig. 3) which prevents the bottle from sliding. The open front portion of the base ring permits of the flange 4 yielding to facilitate inserting a bottle, and furthermore permits of the insertion of a tool to lift the bottle when removing the latter. It is provided on each side wit-h eyes 5 in which are secured vertical rods 6 having their upper ends threaded. Screwed on the threaded ends of the rods are sleeves 7 provided with extensions S to form handles.
Mounted on the vertical rods is a frame 9, provided with perforated ears through which said vertical rods pass. The frame is open at its front and the ends are bent downwardly and inwardly and have buffers 10 secured to their lower ends. At the rear of the frame 9, are two short downwardly and inwardly extended lugs 11, which are provided with buers 12. By this construction the bent ends of the frame and the lugs 11, bear on the upper enlarged portion of the bottle and serve to clamp the latter on the base. By securing the extensions 8 on the threaded ends of the vert-ical rods 6, the frame 9, is forced down on the bottle.
14 indicates trunnions formed with sleeves 13, to receive the vertical rods 6, the trunnions i'itting in open bearings 15 formed in brackets 16 secured to the wall or any other suitable support 17. The bearings 15 are open at the top so as to permit the insertion and withdrawal of the trunnions 14. The latter carry projections 13 adapted to engage circular depressions formed on the brackets, the ends of said depressions having stops with which the projections 18 cooperate to limit the tilting movement of the support.
The opening in the neck 20 of the bottle is closed by a plane glass disk 21 which is ground to lit on tlie upper flat top 22 of the neck 20. The disk 21 is provided with a head 23 mounted on a horizontal shaft 24 on the ends of which are sleeves 25. The lower end of each of said sleeves is closed by a cap 26 through which passes a piston rod 27 the diameter of which is smaller than the bore of the sleeve 25. Inserted between the bottoms of the caps 26 and pistons 28 are coiled springs 29 which serve to push the pistons 2S into the sleeves.
Each piston rod 27 is pivotally connected at its free end with an ear 30 on the clamp 9. It will be understood that the closing disk` 21 is yieldingly applied on the top of the neck of the bottle. When it is desired to open the bottle the cover 2l is pushed back by means of the handle 31 with which t-he head 23 is provided. The springs 29 hold the cover in this position, applying it against the rear part of the top 22 of the neck of the bottle. In order to prevent the cover from striking against the body of the bottle when it is being tilted backward, the amplitude of the tilting motion of the rods 27 is limited toward the rear by suitable stops on the ears 30.
The label is separated from the bottle and is formed by a rectangular curved plate 32 carrying the required inscription and provided with sleeves 33 through which rubber strings 34 are passed. These rubber strings are provided with hooks 35 to engage the vertical rods 6. In order to avoid the direct contact between the label 32 and the body of the bottlel a small pad 36 made of any suitable absorbent material is inserted between the two.
Then it is desired to pour out the contents of the bottle the cover is pushed back and then the bottle is tilted. IVhen the required amount of liquid has been poured out and the bottle again resumes a vertical position the drops of liquid will run along the body of the bottle but cannot come into contact with the brackets. When the label is in position on the bottle the drops of liquid will be absorbed by the pad 3G.
Having thus described my said invent-ion, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters `Patent, is:
l. In a tilting support for a bottle the combination of a base ring adapted to receive and support a. bottle, an ear formed on each side of said base ring, rods secured in said ears, a horizontal trunnion secured to and extending from each of said vertical rods, brackets located adjacent the rods and formed with bearings for said trunnions, an upper clamp supported on the rods and having its ends bent downwardly to engage the top of the body of a bottle to hold the latter in position and means for holding the clamp in position on the vertical rods.
2. In a tilting support for a bottle the combination of a base ring open at its front and adapted to support a bottle, ears formed on said base ring, vertical rods engaging the said ears, a horizontal trunnion secured to each of said vertical rods, brackets formed with bearings to receive said trunnions, an upper clamp open at its front and having its ends bent downwardly to bear on the top of a bottle to hold the latterin position, and means for securing the said upper clamp in position on the said vertical rods, the ends of the clamp having buffers.
3. In a tilting support for a bottle, the
combination of a base ring open at its front and adapted to receive the bottom of abottle, a vert-ical rod secured to each side of said base ring, the upper ends of said rods being threaded, a horizontal trunnion extending from each of said vertical rods, brackets formed with bearings to receive said trunnions, an upper clamp open at its front and having its ends bent downwardly to engage the upper part of a bottle, lateral ears i formed on said upper clamp to receive the vertical rods, handles provided with lower internally screw threaded sleeves which engage the threaded ends of the rods.
il. In a tilting support for a bottle, the
combination of a base ring adapted to receive a bottle, vertical rods secured to the base ring, a trunnion extending from each vertical rod, brackets formed with bearings for the trunnions, the upper portion of the openings being open to receive the trunnions, a stop on each of said trunnions, one side of each of said bearings having a circular fdepression, abutments formed at the ends of each of the circular' depressions which coperate with the stops to limit the tilting motion of the support, an upper clamp which engages a bottle, and means for securing said clamp to the vertical rods.
Ina tilting support for a bottle, the combination oil a base, two vertical rods supported by the base, trunnions extending from the rods, brackets formed with bearings to receive the trunnions, means on the trunnions and the brackets to limit the movement of the tilting support, a clamp secured toy the vertical rods, the ends of said clamp extending downwardly and adapted to bear on a bottle, lugs extending from the clamp to engage the bottle opposite the downwardly extended ends, and handles secured to the vertical rods.
