Be it knownthat l, Joslrju E. J. Goonnn'rr, a eitizen ot' the United States, residingat Memphis, in the eounty of Shell).T and State of Tennessee, have invented certain non and useful improvements in Atomizin INozzless, of whieh the following is a speri iuation.
My invention relates to improvements in atolnizing. nozzles and is particularly de signed and adapted tor use in atoniizing' and projecting hot molasses into a thin fall ing stream of stock food.. or dry baue inatterial whereby the latter becomes tl'xoroughly limpregnated with the former in the process of treating stock foods shown and described in my Letters; Patent No. 951,549, issued January ll), 1911. for a machins for inipregnating stock foods.
The improved atomizing nozzle is designed as a substitute for, and an improvementon the form oi atomizing nozzle shown in Figures 3, il, and 5, of the dran'- ings of said Letters Patent. i

lVih the above mentioned and other endsin view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement, and combination of parts, hereinafter described, illustrated in on'e of its embodiments in the aceoinpw nylug drawings, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
Referring to the drawings, forming a part of this specification, Fig. 1, is a top plan riew of a portion of the improved nozzle. Fig. 2, an end elevation of the same. Fig. 3, al sectional View, taken on line. 3---3 of Fig. 1.

The improved atomizing nozzle comprises a liquid supply body or casing 1, forming a liquid supply chamber 2, and provided at its front with a series or bank of atomizing nozzles 3. The atomizing nozzles 3, are preferably of conical shape as shown, and are preferably secured tol the supply body or casing 1, by means of threaded base portions 3, mounted in internally threaded boss portions la, of the body or Casing 1. A bank of air pipes 4, are slidably mounted in and extend transversely through the liquid Leupply casing l., and cham-- ber 2, said air pipes beingr provided with tapered nozzles .5, disposed within the atoinizing nozzles 3, and forming annular liquid supply passages (i, within the walls of the latter, .said annular supply passages be ing:r gradually ronstrieted toward the tip or noise portions of the nozzles 3, and said nozzles 5, being adapted to be simultaneously moved within the nozzles 3, by the meantr hereinafter described, whereby to regulate the size and form of the annular supply passagers and the amount of liquid flowing therethrough.
As a moans for opening and closing the atolnizing nozzle 3, as well as providiiug- 'means for regulating the amount of liquid allowed to pass from the supply chamber 2, through the base portions of the nozzles 3, the air pipes or (conduits 4, are provided with annular valve heads 7, adapted to be seated on the adjacent base. portions 3a, of the atomizing y Aorf/.les and to be moved toward and from the saine vwith the corresponding movements of the air pipesl or con duits -'l and nozzles 5, ae hereinafter described,
As a convenient means for removably mounting and securing the air pipes 4, and nozzles 5, Within the liquid supply casing l, the latter ries oi internally threaded boss portions 1b, adapted to receive and contain a plurality of bearing cups or bonnet members S, said hearing or bonnet members 8, being adapted to receive and contain the air or conduit pipes 4, and being provided with annular packing glands 9, and gland or packing nuts l0.
As a means l'or sul-)plying air to the air pipes or conduits 4, a eouunon air supply pipe or easing l1, is mounted upon and Carried by the rear ends of said pipes, said pipes being preferably secured to the latter by means of threaded stem portions extending through openings in the supply pipe 11, and secured thereinY by means of securingr nuts 12. The air pipes are adapted to communicate with the air chamber 13, of the supply pipe by means of air inletl openings 14.
The air Supply easing or chamber 1l, is provided with an air supply pipo 15, conn n'nlniratiunr with a suitable air eon'xpressor adapted to t'orrfu eompressed air into the air ('han'lber 13, and out through the air In'etorably provided with u se:
pipes or conduits 4, and nozzles 5, and 3, whereby the liquid, such as hot molasses or the like, in the liquid supply chamber Q, will be thoroughly atomized and projecting t rom the tip or nose )ortions of the nozzles in a welLknoWn and understood manner. The rear ends of the air pipes 4, are provided with threaded plugs 16, whereby ac rese may be readily gained to the interior portions of the air pipes 4, and nozzles 5, and the ends ot' the liquid supply body or easing 1, are likewise provided with threaded plugs 17, for a similar purpose.
As a means for simultaneously moving the air pipes 4, and nozzles 5, Within the liquid supply body 1, and chamber 2, Whereby to regulate the flow of liquid to the atomizing nozzles 3, as Well as providingr means whereby said nozzles 3, may be closed, a roi-k shaft 18, is mounted in bearing lugs i9, ot' the easing, said rock shaft being provided al its ends with crank arms 20, carrying conueeting arms 21, pivotally connected to the ends o' the air supply member or oontainer l1, carried at the rear ends of the air pipes or conduits 4. As a means for rocking the rook shaft and mnsequently moving the bank of air pipes 4, and nozzles 5, as desired, a handle 22, is mounted on said rock shaft, said handle being provided with an indicator arm 23, adapted to travel alo'ng a graduated scale portion 24", of a plate 24, whereby the ca parity or amount of liquid flowing through the liquid supply passages 6, may be approximately indicated. The liquid supply 'chamber 2, is adapted to communicate With a suitable source of liquid supply through the medium of a liquid supply or conduit pipe 25, threaded in a threaded boss 26, of the body or easing l.

l-laving thus desc i ed an embodiment of my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,-
1. In an atomizing nozzle, a liquid supply head provided with atomzing nozzles, an air supply head, and air conduits movable withinsaid atomizing nozzles and provided with valve heads adapted to open and close the latter.
2. An atomizing nozzle, comprising a liquid supply easing provided with a bank of atomizing nozzles, a bank of air conduits movably mounted in said casing and provided With air nozzles and valve heads in cooperative relation to said atomizing noz zles, and operating mechanism for moving and adjusting said air nozzles and valve heads.
3. An atomizing nozzle, comprising a liquid supply bodyprovided with a bank of atomizing nozzles, a bank of air pipes slidably mounted in said liquid supply body and provided with tapered nozzles disposed within said atomizing nozzles, valve heads carried by said tapered nozzles and adapted to open and close said atomizing nozzles, and means for moving and adjusting said bank of air pipes.
4. An atomizing nozzle, comprising a liquid supply chamber provided with atom izing nozzles, bonnet members and packing nuts at the rear of said nozzles, an air chamber member provided with air conduits mounted in ysaid bonnet members and provided With tapered nozzles extending Within said atomizing nozzles and forming annular liquid supply passages therein, a rocking member provided with a handle, and link and crank mechanism connecting said rocking member to said air chamber member,
