Be it known that l, Jo'snri ll. CHAMP, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Cleveland, county of .Cuyahoga, and
State of hio, have invente(L a new and usefnl Improvement in hottie-Holders for Bottlc-Filling Machines, of which the following is a specication, the principle ot the invention being herein explained and the leest mode in which I have contemplated applying that principle, so as to distinguish it from other inventions.
In automatically feeding bottles onto the holders or lifts of bottle filling, or like, machines by mechanism of the kind described, for example, in my 'co-pending application filed Feb. 15, 1911, Serial No. 608,787, ditliculty is apt to be experienced, looth in acculately centering the bottles on` their respective holders, and in preventing' their falling oft. rlhis is especially true in handling pints or bottles of smaller size, since such bottles, Filling rapidly as they do, require to he fed likewise rapidly, and furthermore, such smaller hotties having correspondingly smaller bottoms are less steady and more apt to topple over. when Jforcibly transferred fromthe feeding mechanism onto the holders or lifts.
rl`he obj/ect of the present invention, cordingly, is the provision of a hottie holder, or lift, which will serve not only to accurately guide the bottle into a properly centered position, but also steady the same so as to prevent the second of the ditllculties noted above.
To the accomplishment of the foregoing and related ends, the invention, then, consists ot' the means hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims.
The annexed drawing and 'the following description set t'orth in detail certain` mechanism embodying,r the invention; such disclosed means constituting', however, but one ot various mechanical forms in whichl the principle of the invention may be used.
In said annexed drawing-Figure 1 is a perspective view of a bottle litt, or holder, with a bottle in place thereon, such holder embodying my present improvements; Fig. 2 a vertical sectional view of the same; and Fig. 3 is a plan view of a portioinoli a feeding' mechanism, showing several `bottle holders ot' the present improved construction in operative relation thereto.

By means ot the foregoing mechanism, the transfer of the bottles, even ot pint size may be eltected with considerable rapidity without there being any tendency 'tor the bottles to tip over or joggle on the holders, which if not actually leading to their t'alling oil', will at least 'frequently displace them to such an extent as to render their filling impossible.
