Be it known that we, GEORGE S. SAVIGNAC and CHARLES E. MYERS, both citizens of the United States andresidents of the city of State of Missouri, have invvented a certain new-and useful Improvementin Take-Ups and Thread-Measurers for Sewing-Machines, of which"the following is a specification.
The subject matter of the present inventionis divided out of an application for Letters Patent for an improvement insewing machines, Serial No. 501,462,- filed by us on-June 1 11909.

The principal objects of the invention are to produce a simple and efifective' device which will readily take up the thread to set or complete the stitch, to provide for adjusting said device to measure ofi the proper amount of thread according to the length (if. stitch and thickness of the work,'.and to at tain certain other advantages hereinafter I more fully appearing.

Whenthe needle 32 moves 'downwardly, it carries-- a bight or loop of the threadA with it. The end of the thread A or portion thereof which is secured in the preceding. stitch is, of course, tightly held, 55 and,- therefore, the thread from the supply spool is pulled. through the tension, device and the take up; device and over the idler or pulley.
