Description
type UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES R. MURRAY, 0F CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
IRON FURNITURE.
To all whom it may concern.' Y
Be it known that I, CHARLES R. MURRAY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Iron Furniture, of which the following is a full, clear, concise, and exact descriptio-n, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.
My invention relates to furniture for use in connection with printers chases to hold the forms in place.
Prominent objects of the invention are to provide a simple, practical and ineX pensive form of article of furniture of this kind; to arrange for the easy and ready removal of the same from the chase; to make the same light and durable; and to accomplish the foregoing and other desired results in a simple and expeditious manner.
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is a perspective view of an article of furniture embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a modified form of the same. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the device shown in Fig. Q.. Fig. 4 is a vertical section taken on line 4 4 in Fig. l.
The article of furniture shown in the drawings comprises a frame, l, preferably rectangular in cross-section and made of any suitable material, preferably metal such as iron, brass, German silver, aluminum and Zinc, or the like. This frame 1 is desirably provided with an integrally formed bot-tom 2, and this in trun with a projection 3 rising from the bottom 2 and intended to be used as a hand member to be grasped by the fingers to permit the placing and removal of the device in the chase or in forms of The device in Fig.- l is a large sized device, in which the projecting member 3 does Specification of Letters Patent.

not extend entirely across the frame 1. In Fig. 2, however, I have shown a narrow frame l, having a projecting cross-member 3, which extends entirely across the frame and meets the side walls thereof. In either case it will be seen that the device can be readily manipulated or handled by simply grasping the projecting hand member and placing or removing the device as desired. This permits quick and convenient manipulation of the device and avoids the use of tools for that purpose.
, Changes and modifications can be made without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What I claim is:
l, A device of the class specified adapted for insertion and removal from a printers chase or form of type matter, so as to act as furniture therefor, comprising a rectangular box-like structure having a transverse level oor for dividing said structure into two substantially equal rectangular chambers, and projections having a corrugated contour in each said chamber extending from said level floor forming members for manually engaging said device to place it in position or remove it, all of said device being formed integrally of the same material.
2. A device of the class described comprising a rectangular box-like structure having a transverse floor, and also having projections on opposite sides of the floor, formingmembers for engaging the device to place it in position and remove it therefrom.
In witness whereof, I hereunto subscribe my name this 19th day of June A. D., 1908.
CHARLES R. MURRAY.
