CARTRIDGE-BELT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed June 6, 1911.
Patented Jan. 30, 191 2.
Serial No. 631,529.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK Ronin, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Ashland, in the county of Grafton and State of New Hampshire, have invented a new and Improved Cartridge-Belt, of which the fol-- lowing is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to a new and irnproved form of cartridge belts, and more particularly relates to that class of belts adapted to extend over the left shoulder and under the arm.
An object of my invention is to provide a cartridge belt constructed of two cartridgecarrying parts, so constructed that ready access may be obtained to the cartridges.
A further object of my invention is to provide a device of the above-outlined character, so arranged that when the cartridges are exhausted from the front portion of the belt, the latter may readily be drawn about to bring the portion of the belt containing the cartridges in front of the body of the wearer.
With the above and other objects in view, as will more fully hereinafter appear, the present invention consists in certain novel details of construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and more particularly pointed out in the appended y claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this speciiication, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures, and in which- Figure l is a perspective view showing a preferred embodiment of my invention in position on the wearer; Fig. 2 is a plan view of the cartridge belt spread open, and Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 3--3 of Fig. 2. 5
I employ a pair of bandoleers 4, one adapted to be worn across the breast of the wearer, as shown in Fig. 1, and the other adapted to be positioned diagonally across the back. Extending from the face of each of the bandoleers, are cartridge pockets 3. The length of these bandoleers is suicient to reach from a point below the shoulder of the wearer, as shown at 6, to a point 7 just above the waist line of the wearer. Fastened to each end of the bandoleers, is a semi-circular eye 8, having ends 9 passing through the end of the bandoleer 4f and back again, to firmly hold .the eyes in position. Connecting the top and bottom ends of the bandoleer is an elastic strap 10 of reduced width, said strap being looped through one eye 8 of each bandoleer and fastened thereto, as shown at 11 in Fig. 3, the opposite end of which strap loops through the adjacent eye 8 of the other bandoleer and is brought back upon the strap 10 and fastened by means of a clamp 12, by means of which clamps, the distance between the eyes 8 may be varied to fit different wearers.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
A cartridge belt, comprising a front and a back bandoleer having cartridge pockets therein, a semi-circular eye centrally fastened to each end of each bandoleer and attached to the same adjacent opposite edges, and a relatively broad elastic band connecting the eye on one end of each bandoleer with the adjacent eye on the end of the other bandoleer, one end of said elastic band being permanently fastened to one of the eyes and looped through the other eye and brought back upon, itself and adjustably fastened by means of a clamp, whereby the cartridge belt may be adjusted to fit different wearers, and may be disposed in a diagonal position over either shoulder and under the opposite arm.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specication in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FRANK ROBIE.
Witnesses:
