PISTON LUBRIGATIN'G-PUMP.
T0 aZZ whom it may concern Be it known that 1, AUGUST MLrrz, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at Charlottenburg, near Berlin, in the Kingdom of Prussia, Germany, have invented a new and useful Piston LubricatingPump, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a piston lubricating pump.
In order that one may not be compelled to change the adjustment in cases where an increased supply of oil is required either suddenly or for a limited time, there is, according to the invention, connected a pumping arrangement worked by hand with the automatic pumping arrangement. For this purpose the piston or a portion thereof may be attached to an auxiliary piston-rod which is provided with a suitable head and by springs so arranged within a tube connected with the driving mechanism that in general the piston will be driven by the driving mechanism; but in cases where momentarily a larger supply is required the piston can, independently of the driving mechanism, be driven by hand.
The drawing shows a form of execution of the invention.
Figure 1 shows a cross section of a pump with single-working pistons. Fig. 2 represents a front View of the same with partsection through the oil-vessel.
By a crank-shaft a are driven pistons I). These pistons are connected with the eccentric straps 0 of the crank shaft by means of, adjustable socket members cZ held in the eccentric straps c by means of screw threads and containing the lower part of the auxiliary piston rods Z and the pistons b. The springs e rest at one end on the flanges of the socket members d and at other against the washers 9 held in place by the pins f secured to the auxiliary piston rods Z. The flange on the socket member and the washer g serve as cheek plates between which may be compressed the spring 6 which serves Specification of Letters Patent.

In the event of an increased supply of oil being momentarily required, piston rod Z is means of head m so that the supply conduit is provided with a larger quantity of oil in consequence of the increased number of piston strokes. lVhat I do claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In a lubricating pump the combination of a pump-cylinder, a piston, a piston rod carrying the piston, a driving mechanism, actuating the piston a socket member adjustably connected with the driving mechanism the lower part of the piston rod being arranged within the socket member said socket member being provided with a flange, a confining member on the piston rod, a spring arranged between the flange and confining member whereby the piston is pressed against the under side of the socket member, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
