To all 'who'm t may concern Be it known that I, BURNAM B. CUruaR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in thecounty of Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Screen or Storm-*Window Hangers; and 1 do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will' enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to screen or storm window hangers, and has for its object to provide a device of that class comprising frame and sash members adapted for coperation to facilitate the hanging and removal of a screen or storm sash with which they are used, and to provide a secure support for the screen or window when the latter is in place.

In accomplishing this object I have provided the improved details of structure hereinafter 'described and illustrated in the `accompanying drawings, wherein:

Referring more in detail to the parts 1 designates a window frame and 2 a screen sash of ordinary construction for a full length screen.

3 designates a frame hanger member, which is preferably formed of sheet metal and comprises a fiat body section 4, having a straight upper edge 5 and a forwardly projecting ear 6, the latter being provided with acircular bearing portion 7 that extends above the plane of the straight edge 5.

8 designates a sash hanger member which is also preferably formed of sheet metal, and comprises a flat bodyv section 9 having a straight upper edge 10 and a forwardly projecting'ear 11, corresponding in Shape and size with the body 4 an'd ear 6 of the frame member. On the upper edge of ear 11 is an outwardly turned flange 12, and at the inner end of the flange is a keeper lip 13.

In using the hanger, a frame member is attached to each side face of the frame with the straight edge 5 abutting against the top rail 1' and the ear 6 extending from the outside of the frame. A sash member is secured to each side of the sash with the straight edge 10 flush with the top edge of the sash and the ears 11 projected beyond the outer face thereof. The sash is then lifted slightly above the frame opening and lowered to bring the flanges 12 onto the circular bearing surfaces of the frame member ears.l 6, the sash being preferably inclined outwardly from the bottom to enable it to slip easily into place when hung. With the hanger members in proper relation, the sash may be released and will swing into the opening, the circular bearing portions of the hanger members afi'ording a pivotal mounting and the supporting point being so located that the sash will close by gravity.

It is apparent that the lips 13 on the sash member flanges will keep the parts together,

^ so that the sash may 'have a limited rocking movement without becoming dislodged. It is also apparent that the hanger may be used for half screens, transoms and cellar windows, but as the operation i's the same as for the full screen illustrated,I have not shown these parts in the drawings.

I-Iaving thus described my invention,what I claim as new therein and desire to secure by Letters-Patent is 1. A sash hanger comprising a frame member having a flat body portion and an ear proj ected from the edge ofsaid body portion and provided with a curved upper edge; and a sash member having a flat body portion, an ear projected from the edge of said body portion, a curved flange on the upper edge of said ear, and a lip depending from said flange, parallel with said body portion.

2. The combination with a window frame and sash, of a hanger comprising Vframe members having flat body 'portions fixed to the sides of the frame and having their upper edges bearing against the top of the frame, and'ears projecting from the upper edges of the body portions above the window opening and provided with curved flangesv over the frame member ears, subbearing edges; and sash members compr'sstantially as and for the purpose set forth. 10"
