To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Josrrn V. HULL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Closures for Bottles, Jars, and other Receptacles, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to improvements in closures for bottles, jars and other receptacles; and it consists in the novel cap, hereinafter described and claimed, to be applied over the mouth of the receptacle for sealing the same.

The invention will be fully understood from the detailed description hereinafter presented, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which:

The upper end of thereceptaclc 11 fits snugly within the flange 14 of the cup and vertical members 18 of the arms 15, and between theupper inner portions of the cap and the upper edges of the receptacle 11, is a compressible gasket 20.
When it is desired to seal the receptacle the cap 10 containing the gasket 20 will be placed over the mouth thereof and rest thereon in the manner represented in Fig. 2, and thereupon pressure will be applied on the top of the cap to compress the gasket 20 against the upper edges of the receptacle and into sealing condition, as represented in Fig. 3, and while this pressure is maintained on the cap, pressure will be applied ends of the members 16 of the arms 15 (where said members unite with the members 17 of said arms) for the purpose of folding the members 16 against the members 172111Cl the members 17 against the members 18 of said arms,'the upper ends of the members 17 and the members 18 fsliding upwardly against the outer walls of the receptacle and closing together and the member '16 closing downwardly against the member 17, as shown in Fig. 3. The upward movement of the members 18 during the folding of the angular arms 15 against the neck of the receptacle, results in the lips 19 being carried upwardly into firm contact with the shoulder 12, said lips being enabled when in engagement with said shoulder 12 to lock the cap on the receptacle with the gasket 20 in its compressed sealing condition.- WVheri it is desired to remove the closure from the receptacle, the
