To all whom it may concern:
Be 1t known that we, FREDERICK H. WAR- NER and LORENZO D. WARNER, clt-izens of the United States, residing at Eddyville, in l chine, to facilitate the method of exhibiting views in the stereopticon machine.
In the usual method of exhibiting views and the like by means of stereopticon machines, a cross arm movement is necessary in exhibitingthe views, whereby the viewI is placed in the machine with one hand and drawn out `.the other side of with the other hand. In this procedure the hands yof the operator Iare at times busily employed with the one view exhibited in the machine and this view must first be dis-` pensed with before another View can be placed in the machine, thus incurring a great delay and as the views, disposed immediately adjacentv 'the illuminating means of the stereopticon machine become heated, it has been found very diflicult to place another viewfin the lnachine while the old views are being taken therefrom;
In our device We aim to provide a means for disposal in the stereopticon machine `and which is spaced from the illuminating means so that the'views will not become quickly heated and can be very .easily handled and our device is so constructed that a plurality of views Kcanbe s lccessively exhibited without removing one of the views and in this manner a constant number of views can be successively exhibited Without incurring any delay. and while the view that has beenshown is being Lremoved, a new view will in position and will be throwny upon the screen so that the audience will be at all times occupied and will not be inconvenienced by any delay, such as is the case the usual method of exhibiting views.
For the purpose mentioned we provide a slide adapted to be positioned in a stereopticon machine in front of the illuminating means, a non-heat conducting transparent material slidably mounted in the slide, a
view holder mounted to slide in the saidy slide and adapted to receive therein a pluthe machine rality of views and stop lugs formed on the view holder and adapted to engage the mentioned slide to limit the movement of .the view holder in the slide, thus facilitating the insertion and removal of the views from the view holder.
' Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings constituting a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference denote corresponding parts in ally the views, and in which-- Figure 1 is a rear elevation of our device, parts being broken away to disclose the underlying structure. Fig. 2 is a vertical sect-ionalview on the line 2-2 in Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view \on the line 3-3' in Fig. 1.
Referring more particularly to the views, we provide a slide 10 consisting of an apertured plate 11 having integral base members 11n' extended from both ends thereof and having its edges bent to form bearings 12 and integrally formed on one end of the plate 11 is a flange 13, the said flange eX- Ytending vertically relativelyto the plate and projecting laterally outward from one end of the plate. A second apertured plate 14 is provided having its ends 15 bent laterally thereto and the said second plate is adapted to lie` within the plate 11. and is secured thereto by means of suitable rivets or the like, the apertures in both plates 11 and 14 being adapted lto register. are a plurality of depending spaced slide lugs 16, the said lugs being integrally formed on the plate 14 for a .purpose that will be hereinafter more fully disclosed. Between the outer ends of the bearings 12 and the plate 14 is provided a transparent plate 17, preferably isinglass or the like and the mentioned isinglass plate is mounted to slide in the bearings 12. A view holder 18, having a plurality of` U-shaped cut out portions 19 spaced apart by an intermediate brace 20, is adapted to slide in the plate 14, the upper end of the mentioned view holder being slidably received between the slide y 22 so that the same will lie in the cut out portion of one side of the slide 10. The view holder isthen operated to slide in the slide 10 so that the view disposed on the view holder will be positioned between the apertures lin the plates '11 and 14. When the view is thus disposed, the same will be thrown upon a viewvscreen in an enlarged manner as will be readily understood and while .this view is being shown a second view is being disposed in the other cut out portion which now will be to the lleft side ofithle slide 10. When the first view has been exhibited for the desired periodof time, the view holder is operated so that the second view will move to the exhibiting lposition and the yfirst view can then be removed from the cut out portion which will at this stage of the operationbe disposed to the right of .the slide 10, it being readily seen that the lugs 21 limit the movementof the view. holder relatively to the slide. By repeating the foregoing operation a constant number of views can be alternately shown without incurring any delay and while onel vieyv is being disclosed to the audience, the view which has been previously shown is being removed from the view holder and a new View is being replaced therein. By providing the transparent isinglass vplate 17 any heatufrom t-heilluminatingV burner is pre- Vented from being radiated to the glass views and they can be easily removed from the Viewl holder and safely handledl after they vhave been shown to the audience, thus i greatly -facilitating the general operation of stereopticon work.
It will be understood that the view holder can be made of any desired size to accommodate two or more than two views at one time although forL the purpose of describing our stereopticon slide carrier we have shown a particular construction thereof, it will be understood that the scope of the invention is defined in the appended claims.
Having thus fully described the invention. what we claim as new, is

A device of the class described comprising an apertured plate having its ends bent to form bearings, a second plate mounted to lie within' the said first plate and secured thereto, the aperture in the said-second plate being in register with the aperture in the first plate, a plurality ofspaced guidev lugs integrally formed on the said second plate l and depending therefrom, a plate of trans\ parent non-heat conducting material fory slidable insertion inthe mentioned first plate, a view holder slidably mounted in the said second plate and operable between the lsaid guide'lugs thereof and meansy on the said viewholder and adapted to engagel one of the said plates't limit. the movement of the said view holder relatively to the said plfate.- y i 2. A device of the class described comprising a plate having an aperture therein, a
second plate secured to the said ,first plate 'and having an aperture' registering with the laperture in the first plate, a plate of transparent non-heat conducting material' mounted yon the said first plate and a view holder slidably mounted on the said second plate.-
