To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Axron lVnBnR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sashd ixtures, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to clamping devices for uniting the adjacent edges of panes of glass, panels, and other forms of sheet material to form structures.
The invention has special reference to means for clamping and supporting the adjacent edges of sheets of glass as, for example, a show window, show cases, and other similar structures.
The invention has for its object to pro vide an improved joint for clamping sheets of glass and other material together which will be light in weight and formed of several pieces instead of a solid strip.
The invention further has for its object to provide a clamping strip for the adjacent edges of glass which can be formed of inner strips andouter strips clamped together, the outer strip being of more expensive metal than the inner strip.
Referring to the accompanying drawing:Figure 1 is a view in 'ierspcctivc ofa corner of a portion of a show window showing'platcs of glass clamped together h means of joints constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail view in cross section of the corner joint. shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail view in horizontal section of the butt joint shown in Fig. 1.
In carrying out the invention, a corner joint for a show window is provided which consists of an angular strip of sheet metal 1 fin-e't'erably, formed oi copper, brass, or more expensive metal which may be of ornamental. shape and which has its longitudinal edges 2 bent over and clamped against the edges 3 of the angular portions l of a plate 5 preferably formed of rolled steel. A second smaller plate 6 similar in shape to the plate 5 is provided, the plates 5 and (3 being formed at intervals with screw holes through which project landing screws 7,

It will be seen that by means of this nvention a strong and rigid joint is provided which has the outside of a joint of solid e pensive metal and it will be light in weisznt and readily put together and taken apart.
