Be it known that we, IsAnoR E. Maren and Ossau C. Yarns, citizens ot the United States, residing` atI Louisville, in the county of Jefferson, State ot' Kentucky, have in vented new and useful Improvements in Irousers, oit' which the following is a specitication.

Our invention relates to improvements in trousers.

The object of our invention is to provide belt loops io-r trousers, which are Jformed duringl the manufacture or making of the trousers, and which hides the belt and which dispenses with the extra belt-band usually employed on trousers of this character.

Another object of our invention is to provide a more simple, cheap and eti'ective device of this character.

In the accompanying' drawings-Figure 1 is a front view oit a pair ot trousers showingv our invention applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a rear view of the upper end of the trousers, as shown in Fig. l. Fig. 3 is an enlarged front portion of the trousers with the belt removed and showing waistwbands for trousers turned back.

Referring now to the drawings, 1 represents a pair ot' trousers ot' the usual structure having the waistband 2 extending around the upper edge. Heretot'ore loops have been pro-vided for the belts to pass through or when it was desired to hide the belt an additional strip has been stitched over the usual waistband. In this form the belt was passed between the usual waistband and the additional strip or band, but this made the upper end ot' the trousers very bunglesonie, and it is the object ot this invention to avoid these objections.

In our invention the waistband Q does not extend all the way around the trousers, but stops some distance from the front opening or tly 3, ot the trousers and some distance in t'ront of the rear split portion 4l. This being so, the waistband is formed in six sections, the two frontsections 5 and G, the two side sections 7 and 8, and the two rear sections 9 and 10. The side sections 7 and 8 overlap the 'front and rear sections, and the ends are not stitched or secured to the trousers so that the two side sections 'form the slide Jfor the belt. flronsers are made with alininje, a canvas still'ening' medium 11, and then the usual waistband 2. The canvas is stitched at both top and bottom by the stitching` that secures the waistband to the trousers and is theret'ore held against movement. rl`his canvas 'Forms a comparatively smooth backing tor the belt slide, while the usual waistband 'forms the slide. The inner ends oi the t'ront and back sections 5 and (i, and f) and 1.() are stitched as indicated at 1Q. The side sections 7 and 8 ot the waistband, overlap the 'front and rear section so that a finished ettect will be given the trousers and this also makes it unich easier to insert the belt. The side sections also have their ends hemmed or bound to 'torm a neat appearance.

The belt is readily inserted between the side section and the canvas and hides the belt and t'orms the loops for the belt to support the trousers without any additional straps or 'aistband.

Havingl thus described our invention, what we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

A pair ot trousers comprising* a waist band Yformed ol a series ot' underlying seci tions secured to the trousers at all sides, and spaced apart, and a series ot outer sections forming' the waist band spanning the space between the iunlerlying;` sections and overlapping the same am'lsecured to the trousers at their upper and lower edges leaving,r the ends loose to form belt slides.
