Be it known that we, ERNST Sononowsli, of Hamburg, Stale of Hamburg, and Go'lrnon) .lssipiciu ot (.ologne, Siate of Prussia, Germany, lm veiuvented a new and useful Improvement in Fxlunels for Charging Containt-rsl for Bursting Charges with Fused Explosives, of which the following isa full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which forni a part of this specication.
The object of our invention is to produce a funnel which will insure the charging of the container with thevbursting charge, causing the same to chill in the container without the formation of. hollow spaces, also to produce a sutlicient pressure or head upon the material being cast in the container and enabling the taking up of impurities and air bubbles, which would otherwise -be detrimental to the cast of the explosive in the container. Finally, to form a space in the explosive in the container for the insertion of a priming charge in the fused explosive charge.
We will first describe a funnel embodying 4our invention illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and then point out the invention in the claims.

The funnel, as shown, consists of the main portion a and the neck b. The main portion a and neck Z are jacketed, forming the jacket spaces c and al. The space c has 'a connection e with a source of steam supply, and the space d an outlet f to the air.

A. funnel for loading fused explosive charges, comprising a. funnel proper, a neel: for insertion in the container, a flange for supporting theI funnel in the inlet of the container, in combination with a hollow former supported below the neck of the funnel and adapted to enter the container, the funnel and neck having a jaeketed portion in connection with a steam supply and the atmosphere, aipe connection 4between the steam side of t e jacket and the interior of the former terminating in the upper portion of 'in the lower portion of the interior of the former and the atmosphere, said last mentioned pipe terminating said former.
6. A tunnel for loading fused explosive charges, comprising :i funnel proper, and a neck for insertion in the. container, said funnel being jaeketed. and having an open ended inlet for heating medium, and :in open ended outlet to the atmosphere.
