to provide an adjustable frame in which 'the' hands of theoperator are properly separated and guided and the keyboard concealed from view.
Another important object is to provide means'whereby the apparatus is easily applied to the machine and presented for service therewith, and to provide the adjustability required in adapting the apparatusto any of the well-known forms of typewriting machines.
The invent-ion consists in certain novel features and details of construction and ar rangement by which the above objects are attained, to be hereinafter described.
The accompanying drawings show the apparatus applied on a typewriter, indicated in dotted lines.

Similar letters of` reference indicate the same parts in all the--iigures A A are clamps each having two upwardly projecting spurs A1 A1 adapted to apply on the inner face of the typewriter baseframe on o posite sides of the machine, and a stud A2 rifurcated at the upper end. In the bifurcation of each stud is mounted a close-fitting standard B held by a screw A!" and free to swing thereon to permit it to be inclined upwardly and forwardly at the desired angle. The standards are secured in the required positions by turning the screws A* to clamp the jaws of the bifurcations thereon. In an attachment for typewriters, in 'combinatiom two clamps adapted to grasp the base-fran1e of the vtypevvriting machine on opposite sides thereof, a bifurcated stud one-ach of said Clamps, a screw-threaded standard on ef li of said clamps adjustably held in. such bifurcations, a split-yoke and holding nuts therefor adjust mounted on each of said standards, a rod held adjust-- ably in said yokcs, adjustable clasps on said rod, and adjustable lingers carried by said clasps and extending over the keyboard of the lnaohiue, all arranged substantially as and tor the purposes set forth.

5. In an attachment for typewriters, in combination, two clamps adapted to grasp the 'baseframe of the typewriting machine on opposite sides thereof, a bifurcated stud on each of said clamps, a screW-tln'eaded standard on each of said clamps adj ustably held in such bifurcations, a split-yoke and holding nuts therefor adjustablymounted on each of said standards,a rod held in said yokes, 'adjustable clasps on said rod, adjustable fingers carried by said clasps and eX- tending over the keyboard of the machine, armsadjustably mounted on said rod, a har in each of said arms, and coiled Wires carried by said bars and ,adapted to receive and hold a shield above said lingers, all arranged substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
