limit the turning movement of the stem by` contacting with the sides of the projection. A spiral spring, 39, is coiled about the stem and has position between the upper side of the yokeand the lower side of the bracketprojections so as to provide a support for the pump end of the machine. This support is important in that without'it during the forward movement of the machine, the frictional contact of the flexible strip, 42, with the floor would cause the machine to vibrate vertically and in doing so would allow water and dirt to pass beneath the strips and leave the floor in a streaked condition. By means of the support the pressure on the strips is merely sutcient to keep the latter in contact with the iioor.

In order to increase the efficiency of the machine and the area of its action, I provide means for collecting the water and deliver-ing it to a point adjacent the pump where it may be readily elevated as will now be described.

The rod, 31, operating between the crank and pump-stem, 29, converts the rotary motion of the crank into a reciprocating motion at the pump. As the water and small particles of dirt are accumulated beneath the pump the latter Will suck the same up and discharge it through the nozzle into the receptacle, 25.

Having thus described my invention what Iclaim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,-

In a machine of the character described the combination with a horizontal frame, of a pair of wheels at the rear end of the frame; a yieldingly-sustained Wheel at the front of the said frame; a pump casing depending below the frame at the rear of the yielding]y-sustained front Wheel; a iieXible l scraper in the rear of the pump casing and a handle attached to the machine and projecting rearwardly of the pair `of rear 4wheels whereby the machine may be rocked on the rear wheels to raise the scraper from i the licor.
