Be it known that I, EARL H. RIoHARDsoN,
Ontario, in the county of San Bernar and State of California, have invented a new, and useful Combination Electric Heater, of
which the following is a specification,
This invention relates toan electric heater I device WlllCh is so constructed as to'mclud'e and combine several different functions in its embodiment, whereby it may be employed as an electric laundry iron, or as-an electric stove, or as an electric water heater, or as? an electric curling iron heater, and so con-' structed that the parts may all be nested together in compact form when not in use and ortable appliance of general the household. 7
Other objects and advantages will be brought out in the following description.
Referring to, the drawings :+Figure'1 is a perspective view showing the parts of the device nested together in compact form for carrying. Fig. 2 is a perspective view in detail of the stand. The cover 11 comprises a flat plate with .a de pending flange 12 which is adapted to fit within'thefupper edge oflthe dish 8 and be retained therein. The rear wall of the dish- 8 is provided with aloop 13 which is adapt ed toreceive either foot 14 of a' handle 15, 5 the oppositefoot14; acting as a brace to support the dish when lifting it by means of the handle, both feet 14 belng similar inf construction and oppositely arranged. -The handlemaybe readily connected or disconnected .Withthe loop 13.
The sad iron 16 is adapted to be placed inside of the dish 8, as indicated in Fig. 1,
' and the dish 8 and stand 1 are of'a shape which conforms to the triangular shape of the sad iron, so that all three can be nested together, as shown Fig. 1, and thus oc-' cupy a' minimum space when packed. The sad iron 16 com rises a bottom plate or body 17 which is ormed with a large trian- '80" gular recess 18 as shown in Fig, 5, with an extra metal portion 19 in the' toe and with extra metal portions 20 in the heel corners. Arranged in the recess 18 and diverging rearwardly are two wire-wound heat conducting cores 21, the front ends of which have tongues 22- with circular heads 23 which are received in correspondingly j shaped recesses in the toe 19, so that heat is conducted by the cores 21 directly to the toe portion 19,"thereby delivering a greater amount of heat to the toe portion than tothe center of the iron where the heat is notso much needed. The heat is generated. by means. of coils of resistance wire 24 wound on the cores 21. As shown in Fig. 4, sheets of insulation25 are arranged above and below the wire=woundcores and the cores 21 .are made flat and :suitably insulated from the,wire wound on them.' The pressure plate 26 has a longitudinal cylindricahchamber 28 which is'open at the rear end and adapted to receive a curling iron 29, as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 4:, so that, whenever it is desired to heat a curling iron all that is required is to simply slip the curling iron in the cavity 28.
Inclosing the pressure plate 26 is a cover 30 which is secured by screws 31 to the pressure plate 26. The screws 31 also serve to attach a bail 32, the latter being supported slightly above the face of the cover 30 by annular ribs 33 pressed up in the metal of the cover 30. The bail 32 supports a handle 34. The rear end of the cover 30 is formed with a raised and inclined boss 35 in'which is secured two terminal blades 36 which are insulated from the cover by bush-.
ings of insulation material 37. The respective terminal blades 36 are electrically connected with the respective coils of wire 24 and the blades are protected by a guard strap 38 which is secured to the bail 32.
The guard 38 acts also as a support for the insertion of the curling iron 29.
The parts are shown in Fig. I packed together for storage; When it is desired to cook, the stand is inverted, as shown in Fig. 3, the sad iron is then inverted and its ball 32 slipped into the. recess 6, the guard strap 38 being received in the recess 7. Then the dish 8-is placed on the bottom of the sad iron with the flange 1O fitting the edge of the sad; iron, so that the dishis securely held in perfect alinement with the sad iron, so that all of the'heat from the iron is applied to the entire bottom of the dish. The flange 10 also prevents the dish from slipping 0E. The cover 11 is placed" on top of the dish and the handle 15 secured by inserting one ofthe feet 14 inside of the loop 13. By means of the handle 15 the dish may readily be lifted off from the sad iron and handled. When the iron is inverted as shown in Fig. 3 it obviously acts as an electric stove and is capable of heating other things or dishes other than the dish llby removing the latter. If at any time it is desired to heata curling iron, the curling iron may be slipped into the chamber 28, for which purpose it is obviously not essential that the sad iron be inverted and supported by the stand, as indicated in Fig. 3, as the 1,ooe,129

What I claim is:
1. In a combination electric heater, a body, electric heating means therein, said body having an external heating surface a stand comprising a plate with legs secured thereto and projecting-slightly on one side of the plate forming lugs to receive and .hold the body against slipping, a dish shaped to fit between said legs or lugs, the body being shaped to fit within said dish.

In a combination electric heater, a body, electric heating means therein, said body having an external heating surface, a stand comprising a plate with legs secured thereto and projecting slightly on one side of'the plate forming lugs to receive and hold the body against slipping, a dish shaped to fit between said legs or lugs, the body being shaped to fit within said dish, a bail and handle on the body, said plate having a slot to receive said bail.

In a combination electric heater, abody, electric heating means therein, said body having an external heating surface, a stand comprising a plate with a flange around its edge, legs attached to said flange and projectin'g slightly from the side of the plate opposite the flange forming lugs to recelve and hold the. said body against slippmg, a dish shaped to fit within said flange, and a handle and bail on said body, said plate having a slot adapted to receive said bail.

In a combination electrid heater, abody, electric heating means therein, said body having an external heating surface, a stand comprising a plate with a fiange around its edge, legs attached to said flange and projecting slightly from the side ofthe plate opposite the flange forming lugs to receive and hold the said body against slipping, a
