Inventor the ruling surface in perfect 'alinement.

A further object of my invention is to construct a ruling form composed of sections which may be of any width and length and provided with ruling sections also of any length and spaced at equal distances apart, the same so arranged as to be connected together so as to form a ruling surface of anylength, and-by these sections any size of ruling form can be built.

The slugs are preferably constructed in' assorted lengths, arranged formin a slug provided wither carrying two ru ing sections, up to any number.

As-shownin the drawings (Fig. 2) a row of slugs are built together comprising a slug 17, having two ruling sections, a' slug 18 having three ruling sections, a slug 19 having four ruling sections and a slug 20 provided with five ruling sections. Between the abutting edges of the various slugs is placed an abutting ruling section 21, which is of a solid plate of the same width as the .of various sizes' of sections any number of lines can be arranged both horizontal and vertical and any length and width, the essential feature of the invention being the formationof slugs carrying ruling sections, all being made of such material, especially the printing surfaces, as is well known to the. printers trade, and the printing surface may be either solid lines, dotted or dash lines or of any other configura ion, and if in the event, by chance any one number of the ruling segtions may become worn-or otherwise demolished, the same can be readily removed from the grooves in the slug and a new one replaced.

If it is desired to have any printing mattcr between any one or number of the sections, the same can be so arranged by removing any one or number of said sections and inserting type in lieu thereof without in any manner injuring the remaining portion of the form.

Having thus fully described my'invention, what I claim as new and desire to have secured to me by the grant of Letters .Patcut is:

1 A ruling form for printers use comprising elongated rectangular slugs of various lengths and provided with connecting grooves in their sides and top at equal distances apart, slotted ruling sections inserted in the grooves and firmly held on the slugs,

and ruling plates arranged parallel with the slugs and contacting With the abutting edges of the ruling sections for forming the cross rules of the form, substantially as specifietl.

2. A ruling section for printers use comprising a form composed of a plurality of elongated rectangular slugs of various: 20

lengths, each slug provided with grooves on the sides and top-and each groove formed at equal intervals apart, ruling sections of various lengths provided with projections by which said ruling sections are held in rigid position within the grooves of the slugs, and plates adapted to be placed against the abutting ends of the ruling sec-' tionsfor forming the close lines in the form, substantially as specified.
