The machine operates automatically, is of simple construction and thoroughly reliable. In the accompanying drawing: Figure 11s a side elevation of a machine embodying my paper bags or similar recepinvention; Fig. 2 a front viewthereof; Fig.-

A movable carrier 1 shown to consist of a disk is by a hub firmly secured to' a ro-' tatable upright shaft 2. From the carrier depends a sleeve 3, stepped on-a bearing a of the machine frame. Above the carrier is mounted a hopper 5 engaging a flanged collar 6, and adapted to contain the material to be filled into the bags. Collar 6 is arranged directly above the carrier, beneath which the latter is however free to rotate. The carrier is bular shells 7, fwhich' are successively advanced beneath collar,

that the vessel which had been charged will now be emptied through funnel 19', into-the bag to be filled. To shells 8 are secured deflectors 21 that prevent flour or similar material from spreading, Whenthe valves are suddenly opened.
Between sleeve 10 and glideway 17 is fitted a rotatable rin 22 having a notch 22=' similar to that vided with a handle 23 that extends outwardly through a slot 2890f said glideway; y turning ring 22 throughhandle l23, its notched-section can be moved out of registry with. notch 20, so that the rollers 16 that? likewise engage ring 22, cannot enter the notch 20 and the valves will remain 010 d. In this way, the measuring appamay be put out of action without interriipting the movement of the carrier:
Glideway 17 is provided with lateral eyes 24engaged by the upper ends of rods .25, the lower-ends of which are guided ineyes 26 of-themachineframe. Rods 25.,are connected by a cross arm 27, carrying a pair of levers 32.
