Abstract
A method for the determination of duration of traffic signalization intermediate cycles is based on scanning intersection zone with two unidirectional laser beams from point above its geometric centre by means of taper double-beam scanning. The second beam is formed in the same plane with first beam, but with bias at half-period by scanning circle. The optical axis of the first beam is changed alternately in each scanning period. Inclinations of optical axes of first and second beams are changed alternately in each scanning period at reference point. Optical signals reflected from a vehicle at intersection approaches and exits by corresponding photodetectors are received, converted to pulse numeric codes according to which the presence of the vehicle by separate lanes in the controlled zone and in the intersection zone at the time of the beginning of an intermediate cycle is determined. The time of the termination of the intermediate cycle is formed on the moments when the last vehicle begins crossing by its front bumper one of lines of scanning of the first beam by lanes at the exit from the intersection, but under condition of verifying possibility of appearance on the entrance to the controlled zone of new vehicle at the time of the beginning of intermediate cycle, which stopping path exceeds the length of the controlled zone.
