Abstract

The method for treating the diabetic nephropathy comprises the basic combined therapy using blood sugar-lowering and nephroprotective drugs. Prior to the treatment, immunocytochemical examination of the leukocytes from the peripheral blood is provided. The functional state of the system of nitric oxide production is assessed as the additional factor of the development and progression of the diabetic nephropathy. Ratio of endothelial to inducible NO-synthase expression is calculated. If K is less than 1, the impaired production of nitric oxide is suggested manifesting as the disbalance between endothelial and inducible NO-synthase. In such cases, the donator of L-arginine is provided as the additional nephroproptector in the setting of the basic combined therapy.
