The invention relates to a process for the preparation of silicon dioxide from rice hulls. According to the invention the rice hulls are washed, dried, milled to the particles with the medium size of 40-200 micrometers with the realization of extraction of organic components and inorganic admixtures of metals in two stages: on the first stage the rice hulls are treated to 95 % of ethyl alcohol with addition of 0.5-10 mass % of hydrochloric acid at boiling temperature of the solution for 0.5-6 hours. On the second stage rice hulls are treated by aqueous solution of sulphuric acid with the concentration of 5-15 mass % at boiling temperature of the solution for 0.5-6 hours. A thermal treatment of insoluble residue is carried out at temperature 600-650 °С for 0.1-1 hours in medium of air or oxygen. The invention provides the preparation of dioxide of 99.99 mass % of purity by maximum removal of components.
